Optical metrology equipment for climatologists and meteorologists
The laser ceilometer from JENOPTIK Laser, Optik, Systeme GmbH measures such atmospheric parameters as cloud height, visibility and the height of a planetary boundary layer. The product provides the first ever metrological device to safely detect also cloud layers and cirrus clouds at height levels up to 15 kilometers. This marks a major progress in the science of meteorological and climatologic forecasting. Measurement is accomplished with an opto-electronic laser sensor that relies on the LIDAR principle, an optical version of radar: A solid-state laser emits light pulses into the atmosphere. The light which is scattered by air and aerosol molecules is collected with a specific optical setup to be detected by a highly sensitive photo receiver (APD). By analyzing the pulse transit time and the intensity of backscattered light portions, smart algorithms compute a high-resolution aerosol height profile along with other related measurement readings. With integrated heating and cooling functionality and designed for autonomous operation, the CHM 15k can be relied to perform in any weather conditions.

Ecotech Rainmaster 1000 for measuring rainfall
The Rainmaster 1000 is a simple Tipping Bucket Rain Gauge used to measure rainfall. The Rainmaster 1000 collects rain water until the collection bucket tips over pouring our the water into a bottle underneath. This tipping action is calibrated to a known amount of water and the instrument will record the amount of tips to calculate the rainwater level.

Universal precipitation gauge using the balance principle for liquid, solid, and mixed precipitation
It does not matter whether it is drizzle, sleet, hail or snow, the new OTT Pluvio² reliably and accurately measures both, the amount and the intensity of liquid, solid, and mixed precipitation.
It works according to the balance principle, taking account of external factors such as temperature and wind that could distort the results. Both, digital outputs (impulse/0.1 mm and frequency/status) and the serial interface, freely configurable as SDI-12 or RS-485, are available for transferring the data.
High-precision technology and robust design provide high accuracy and complete reliability.
Load cell and sensor electronics are hermetically sealed against damaging environmental influences. We have designed the carrier, bucket and protective housing parts to be particularly robust and we have ensured the use of high-quality materials.

The measurement of precipitation is an important element in efforts to maintain the water balance. Mierij Meteo plays its part in this respect by providing meteorological consultancy services and developing new products.
The model 200 rain gauge operates on the basis of a tipping bucket mechanism. The bucket is available in capacities that correspond with precipitation of 0.2 mm. The bucket assembly acts as a seesaw. As soon as the upper bucket is full, the lower “empty” bucket is lifted to be filled, while
the lower bucket is drained. The tipping bucket pivots on bearings which minimizes friction and wear. Each tip generates an electrical impulse.
The total precipitation during a certain period of time equals the number of impulses multiplied by the contents of the bucket used multiplied by a
constant. The rain gauge is designed for accurate operation with trouble-free service

The optical rain sensor 205 has a new principle of precipitation detection. The 205 has infrared/ red transmitters and an infrared/red receiver.
Only changes on the glass surface of the sensor are measured. For this reason the sensor is not sensitive for dust or dirt. The output signal switches between 4 and 20 mA (open collector output is also available). No precipitation is equal
to 4 mA and precipitation is equal to 20 mA. When there is precipitation the open collector output switches to GND (Ground). A heater is mounted to prevent failure due to dew and to ensure a fast response time at the end of a
precipitation period.

In meteorology, the precision of measurement data parameters is critical for accurate weather forecasting and environmental research. ROTRONIC meteorological probes have an excellent reputation for providing precise results

Even the best probes measure inaccurately if the surrounding conditions are not representative of the actual climatic conditions. Without appropriate weather protection shields, the probe temperature will not be correct, and since relative humidity is temperature dependent, significant measurement errors will be the result. Poorly ventilated weather protection shields can result in a micro-climate around the probes causing consequential errors of measurement.
Therefore, in applications which require a high level of accuracy, ventilated protection shields are used. High accuracy measurements are even more important when energy optimization is concerned. The more accurate the measurement, the smaller the control errors and the greater the energy savings.

The all-rounder Sensero-868 AC

The new weather sensor has the light, twilight and wind functions. What is new is that the wind is measured using an air flow sensor on the underside of the device. Thus, side winds and updrafts can also be detected.
Thanks to its tiltable wall bracket, the Sensero-868 AC can be mounted on a façade or on a roof. Furthermore, it can be mounted on top of a mast.

General description:
The Gill MatPack is a compact and lightweight multi-sensor weather station instrument that measures the most essential weather parameters. Gill ultrasonic technology, as used in the proven WindSonic anemometer, measures wind speed and direction.
Temperature and humidity are measured using industry standard probes housed in a naturally aspirated radiation shield. The instrument kit uses a rugged U-bolt mounting clamp that attaches to any vertical pipe up to 50mm in diameter.
The instrument can be supplied with either a digital SDI-12 output or a four channel analogue output option, suitable to interface with industry standard loggers. Low power consumption enables the weather station instrument to be used in remote locations where power is at a premium. An electrical junction box is fitted to the mounting bracket allowing convenient termination of all electrical cables.
