Single turn wave springs are ideal for manufacturer of bearing preload. The wave spring preloads the bearing through its outer race, taking up play in the bearing. By preloading a bearing, you will reduce bearing damage and wear. This particular application benefits from the wave spring by preventing sliding between the rolling elements.
Smalley’s Bearing Wave Spring Series comes in metric sizes to match popular bearing sizes. Smalley has over 150 standard bearing springs available, ranging from 16mm to 580mm. Specials are available for unique bearing sizes with No-Tooling-Charges™.

Emmotts is able to accommodate any size of wire or bar, and can produce to customer requirements using spring steels, stainless, phosphor and a range of more exotic alloys. Modern automatic spring coiling equipment is used along with hand operations for smaller orders, to ensure the economic production of all orders.

Crest-to-Crest Wave springs can replace conventional round cable springs while occupying only half the space. Crest-to-Crest Springs offer the same force and deflection as standard coil springs.
Crest-to-Crest springs are stocked in a wide variety of loads and deflections; standard parts are available from 3/8” to 16”. Special designs can be from .200” to 90”; specials are affordable because of Smalley’s No-Tooling-Cost™ process. |

The NEG'ATOR extension spring represents the most basic, yet most versatile, type of constant force springs. It is a prestressed flat strip of spring material which is formed into virtually constant radius coils around itself or on a drum. When deflected, the spring material straightens as it leaves the drum. This straightened length of spring actually stores the spring's energy through it's tendency to assume its natural radius.
The full rated load of the spring is reached after being deflected to a length equal to 1.25 times its diameter. Thereafter, it maintains a relatively constant force regardless of extension length. Load is basically determined by the thickness and width of the material and the diameter of the coil.
Fatigue life of NEG'ATOR springs ranges from 2,500 cycles to over a million cycles depending upon the load and size of the spring. Working deflections of 50 times the drum diameter can be achieved. A wide variety of mounting configurations can be used such as cavity mounts, multiple spring mounts, etc., depending on the application. End connections can also be varied to fit the design situation. Hunter's own experienced engineers can help you select a spring design to meet your space, life cycle, load and operation requirements.

A tightly coiled wound band of pre-hardened spring steel or stainless steel rod. When extended a constant force is exerted and this is maintained as the spring is allowed to close. The full force is effective until the spring is in the fully closed position.
This spring type derives its name from its ability to extend through its full working length while being maintained in any position by the same force. Constant force springs are available in a wide variety of sizes and the recent introduction of a purpose built plant ensures the price competitiveness of the smallest production run. Emmotts is one of the UK's most experienced manufacturers in this highly specialised field.

Long running motors of 50 turns or more at near constant torque can be achieved.
Typically used for retrieving and returning, the motor spring has many uses.
Motor springs can be configured in many different ways. In some, the spring is wound in the same direction around the larger torque output drum. In others, the spring is bent in the opposite direction. This configuration stores more energy per weight of spring but does reduce the fatigue performance. |

Disk springs are conically-shaped, washer-type components designed to be axially loaded. What makes disc springs unique is that based on the standardized calculations of DIN 2092, the deflection for a given load is predictable and the minimum life cycle can be determined. Disc springs can be statically loaded either continuously or intermittently, or dynamically subjected to continuous load cycling. They can be used singularly or in multiples stacked parallel, in series or in a combination thereof.
- A wide range of load/defl ection characteristics
- High load capacity with small defl ection
- Space savings - high load to size ratio
- No set under design loads
- Longer fatigue life
- Inherent dampening especially with parallel stacking
- Flexibility in stack arrangement to meet your application requirements |
|
Manufactured to the highest quality standards

Disc spring stacks
On request, Mubea can deliver disc springs pre-assembled in stacks or on a guiding device.
Advantages:
Assembly is more efficient with pre-assembled stacks
Stack specific load - deflection diagrams (modern load industrial testing machines can provide test loads up to 1000 kN)
Small load tolerances possible
100% load testing can be used to prevent incorrect stacking |

Flat Springs can take on a multitude of forms, from a simple leaf spring which operates in a single plane (as in a switch, for example) to a complex clip action which may operate in several planes at the same time.
Emmotts has built an enviable reputation in this field; which is amply demonstrated by their market share. The extensive range of standard tooling which Emmotts maintains often means their specialist tooling is not required for short run work . In conjunction with this , Emmotts has an `in-house' tooling facility to ensure the economical production of high volume work. Materials range from mild a stainless steel, through to copper and nicol alloys.

DETAILS OF CONSTRUCTION
RINGFEDER® Friction Springs consist of a series of separate inner and outer rings with mating taper faces. Under the application of an axial load F the wedge action of the taper faces expands the outer rings and contracts the inner rings radially, allowing axial deflection.
An effective taper face i.e. one half inner ring and one half outer ring is defined as one element.
The rings are manufactured from high quality spring steel. They are rolled or turned, calibrated for size, hardened and tempered. The rings are then given a final dimensional check.
Before despatch, every complete spring is mounted according to the assembly drawing, several times block loaded and checked against diagram data.
CHARACTERISTICS OF RINGFEDER® FRICTION SPRINGS
1. Absorption/damping of high kinetic energies
2. Absorption of high kinetic energies at small component sizes
(e.g. overload protection)
3. Versatility in design
4. High spring work combined with low weight and volume
5. Overload-safe in blocked position
6. Characteristics independent of loading rate
7. Diagram independent of temperature
8. Parallel and series arrangement of springs
9. Force-travel Diagram |

EB-RW Maximum Energy Constant Torque Springs
Very high constant torque can be obtained by laminated R.W. springs through 90º angular movement.
A development from motor springs is the maximum energy torque spring or EB-RW. Essentially a short motor spring which generally consists of two or more spring laminations (up to 8 in each assembly) depending on the torque required and space limitations. |

The multiple and general-purpose functions of a helicoid are used to produce powerful springs of precision, accumulators of energy of the couplings...
The components upstream/downstream directly bordering are integrated to obtain a connection compact, cast solid, made safe.
The force of recall is restored with a constant value in compression, extension, torsion, in translation, alternatively but also simultaneously.
No the buckling of load, the whorls are reversed to avoid rotation in compression.
3 departures of whorls give more rigidity, improve the repeatability, safety. Even with a broken whorl, spring HELICAL remains operational.
