The ideal complement to ball bearings
Ball bearings run smoothly and noise-free when pre-loaded with our Original SCHNORR® "K" disc springs. They are available in slotted and in non-slotted versions for bearings up to a diameter of 360 mm. Depending on the purpose for which they are used one or more disc springs may be specified. Since in particular cases the inner ring rather than the outer ring of the ball bearing should be preloaded all "K" disc springs are designed such that the outer diameter suitable for one size of bearing will also fit the inner diameter of another size of bearing. For example, a "K" disc spring which is designed for preloading the outer ring of a size 6302 bearing can also be used to preload the inner ring of a size 6205 or 6305.

Single turn wave springs are ideal for bearing preload. The wave spring preloads the bearing through its outer race, taking up play in the bearing. By preloading a bearing, you will reduce bearing damage and wear. This particular application benefits from the wave spring by preventing sliding between the rolling elements.
Smalley’s Bearing Wave Spring Series comes in metric sizes to match popular bearing sizes. Smalley has over 150 standard bearing springs available, ranging from 16mm to 580mm. Specials are available for unique bearing sizes with No-Tooling-Charges™.

The NEG'ATOR extension spring represents the most basic, yet most versatile, type of constant force springs. It is a prestressed flat strip of spring material which is formed into virtually constant radius coils around itself or on a drum. When deflected, the spring material straightens as it leaves the drum. This straightened length of spring actually stores the spring's energy through it's tendency to assume its natural radius.
The full rated load of the spring is reached after being deflected to a length equal to 1.25 times its diameter. Thereafter, it maintains a relatively constant force regardless of extension length. Load is basically determined by the thickness and width of the material and the diameter of the coil.
Fatigue life of NEG'ATOR springs ranges from 2,500 cycles to over a million cycles depending upon the load and size of the spring. Working deflections of 50 times the drum diameter can be achieved. A wide variety of mounting configurations can be used such as cavity mounts, multiple spring mounts, etc., depending on the application. End connections can also be varied to fit the design situation. Hunter's own experienced engineers can help you select a spring design to meet your space, life cycle, load and operation requirements.

|
A tightly coiled wound band of pre-hardened spring steel or stainless steel strip. When extended a constant force is exerted and this is maintained as the spring is allowed to close. The full force is effective until the spring is in the fully closed position.
This spring type derives its name from its ability to extend through its full working length while being maintained in any position by the same force. Constant force springs are available in a wide variety of sizes and the recent introduction of a purpose built plant ensures the price competitiveness of the smallest production run. Emmotts is one of the UK's most experienced manufacturers in this highly specialised field.

Constantly increasing product and quality requirements often make the use of custom-made springs necessary. These can be specifically designed to suit your application.
The use of a special size can lead to considerable product and price advantages when it results in volume production.
An early consultation between you and our technical staff, even at the conceptual stage, can lead to tailor-made solutions. We already produce high-quality special springs in large series
with the help of our modern tooling plant, our specialised production processes and our testing apparatus.

The characteristic benefits of original SCHNORR® disc springs include:
- Load deflection curves of straight, progressive or degressive character according to the selection of spring arrangement and dimension.
- Simple adjustment of the spring stack length by the addition or removal
of individual springs, thus altering the spring stack characteristic.
- Efficient use of space with high spring forces obtainable with small deflections.
- Largely self damping, particularly with parallel stacking.
- No setting or fatigue under normal loads load.
Long service life
- Flexibility in application of the disc springs can lead to a reduction in
stock levels.
By means of these characteristics, the original SCHNORR® disc spring has developed such a wealth of application areas that nowadays there is scarcely an engineering area where it is not used.

Specifications:
Disc springs to DIN 2093 (Group 1, Group 2, Group 3...)
Disc springs to Mubea Factory Standards or other as required
Range of dimensions: outside diameter 8.0 mm to 800 mm
Materials to DIN 2093 (DIN 17 221, DIN 17 222) and special materials (see menu materials)

Springs are phosphated and oiled as a standard (see menu corrosion prevention).
|
|
Disc springs are conically-shaped, washer-type components designed to be axially loaded. What makes disc springs unique is that based on the standardized calculations of DIN 2092, the deflection for a given load is predictable and the minimum life cycle can be determined. Disc springs can be statically loaded either continuously or intermittently, or dynamically subjected to continuous load cycling. They can be used singularly or in multiples stacked parallel, in series or in a combination thereof.
- A wide range of load/defl ection characteristics
- High load capacity with small defl ection
- Space savings - high load to size ratio
- No set under design loads
- Longer fatigue life
- Inherent dampening especially with parallel stacking
- Flexibility in stack arrangement to meet your application requirements
|
|
A disc spring is a conical shell which can be loaded along its axis either statically or dynamically.
Particular feature:
"Highest load in the smallest space"
Manufacture acc. to DIN 2093 and to works standard. Using all suitable non-galvanic surface treatments as well as in custom-sizes and from special materials (see our Materials overview list).

|
Disc spring stacks
On request, Mubea can deliver disc springs pre-assembled in stacks or on a guiding device.
Advantages:
Assembly is more efficient with pre-assembled stacks
Stack specific load - deflection diagrams (modern load testing machines can provide test loads up to 1000 kN)
Small load tolerances possible
100% load testing can be used to prevent incorrect stacking
