The KEM Deburring Machine has been developed in WERA
technical center and it is now built under license by FIMAT.
It has been designed for deburring and chamfering special and bevel gears.
The machine concept is optimized for short serials and a wide
variety of work parts. The tool features 5 degrees of liberty and
is able to perform any work part profile with extreme precision
and speed. It also suits other complex work part shapes requiring
precise and sharp chamfering.

Combining an indexing turntable with various motor stations, fixturing options and on-board tooling options, each deburring system can be designed for a customer's unique parts and application requirements.
Abtex deburring equipment designs are simple yet overbuilt. Each rotary indexing system is built with power and integrity to spare. General description:
Our single head end deburring machines are available in either a manual or a semiautomatic configuration. Within the system, a disc brushing tool is rotated on the vertical plane, and the extrusion end is presented, in a controlled manner, to the face of the brush by the deburring equipment.
A. Manual System: Setup and operation of this deburring machine requires minimal training. Necessary adjustments for extrusion dimensions and desired brush penetration are easily made. The operator then secures the extrusion to the table with the clamping "arm" and begins to move the table through its range of motion. The extrusion end is first passed through the upper half the deburring brush. As the table reaches its travel limit, the motor/brush assembly indexes upward, and the extrusion returns through the lower half of the brush, completing the deburring cycle. Cycle time is variable.
B. Semi-Automatic System: The ease of setup and 360° brush deburring action found in the manual deburring machine are also inherent in the semiautomatic machine. Once the operator has loaded the extrusion(s), two palm buttons are pressed. This action initiates the pneumatic clamping mechanism and the table begins its range of motion. By removing operator involvement in the clamping and table traverse mechanisms, operator fatigue has been reduced and cycle time consistency has increased. Once the palm buttons have been pressed this system completes the deburring cycle in approximately 8 seconds. Our testing has shown an average of 3 cycles per minute are possible when loading and unloading are included in the time studies

In these machines the pieces holder is clamped with clutches of pneumatic centrings to grant the exact position of the piece for the brush-robot whereas the piece is clamped by a mobile bracket with pneumatic drive with shaped tampon made of plastic material. On the deburring head spraying nozzles are mounted orientated onto the working points of the brush connected with flexible tubes to the supply pump.
The deburring head will execute a longitudinal vertical alternate movement and an orbital movement (this permits to brush holes of different diameter without brush exchange).

Europe’s largest manufacturer of balancing weights for all types of automobiles produces 20 to 25 tons of these weights per day; in sizes varying from a minimum of 20 by 14 by 10 mm to a maximum of 160 by 18 by 3 mm. Legal requirements forced the company to change from lead as basic material to zinc diecasting. This change required the purchase of a new deburring system. This system needed to guarantee fast and complete removal of burrs without damaging the part and also ensure “batch integrity”, i.e. the machine must be completely unloaded at the end of the blast process for a given parts size. Because of the multitude of different parts, it was critical to ensure that the different parts did not mix. This machine has a high capacity of 7200 parts per hour, and it is a continuous feed system which can easily be integrated into the overall manufacturing process. The RMBD's ease of maintenance is another big advantage. The parts transport system is positioned on special rails and can quickly and easily be removed from the machine housing. This reduces the time requirements for maintenance to an absolute minimum. These two features, namely the continuous, in-line operation, and the time saving and cost-effective maintenance, convinced the customer to choose the RMBD 300.

Vector Series abrasive flow machines have been redesigned through a joint effort between Extrude Hone Corporation and its customers. Over three hundred existing machine customers were contacted to provide input concerning a new machine design. The customers were asked for suggestions concerning machine operation, ease of maintenance, ergonomics and safety. The result is an extremely flexible Vector Series that is capable of polishing large extrusion and forming dies, multiple workpieces at one time and production deburring. The working tabletop has been lowered and enlarged, to accommodate bulky and heavy components. The abrasive media cylinders can be provided in sizes ranging from 4 inch diameter to 12 inch diameter. The Vector and the Vector HP offer a choice of pressure ranges to meet specific production requirements. Another standard feature on the Vector Series is the touch screen operator interface terminal which simplifies all machine functions in both an automatic or manual mode. This machine can also be ordered with optional flow control.

At the Heart of Extrude Hone
Extrude Hone patented the Abrasive Flow Machining (AFM) process in the 1960's as a method to deburr, polish and radius difficult-to-reach surfaces.
The typical AFM process (two-way flow) uses two vertically opposed cylinders which extrude an abrasive media back and forth through passages formed by the workpiece and tooling. Abrasive action occurs wherever the media enters and passes through the most restrictive passages. The extrusion pressure is controlled between 7-200 bar (100-3,000 psi), as well as the displacement per stroke and the number of reciprocating cycles.
One-way AFM systems flow the abrasive media through the workpiece in only one direction, allowing the media to exit freely from the part for fast processing, easy cleaning and simple quick-exchange tooling.

Electrolytic Machining and Deburring - (ECM/ECD)
A highly accurate, repeatable deburring and material finishing process for medium high volume, high value added applications.
Electrolytic Machining, is a targeted metal dissolution process that applies an electrical current to the tooling and workpiece, while flowing an electrolyte between both surfaces, to dissolve unwanted metal. Electrolytic deburring and surface polishing is capable of producing very tightly controlled edge radii, and surface finishes, down to 5 µinch (.012 micron) Ra. Typical processing times are as fast as 10-30 seconds for most applications.
