Samples are mounted on a rotating professional turntable and subjected to the wearing action of two standardized abrasive wheels applied at a specific pressure. CAL2k Isothermal (Static Jacket) Bomb Calorimeter system used to determine the calorific value (energy content) of solid and liquid substances. The CAL2k bomb calorimeter is the most advanced calorimeter available, it is used in many different industries ranging from coal analsyis, animal feed research, fuel analysis, waste product incineration, by-product analysis etc.
The "dry" static jacket isothermal method has no water inside the calorimeter. An aluminum sleeve that is an integral part of the vessel replaces the bucket. The sleeve transfers the heat from the combustion process rapidly and evenly around the outside shell of the vessel. The suppliers of temperature sensors are located between the combustion vessel and the sleeve. The temperature rise of the vessel is measured to determine the calorific value of the sample. The surrounding water jacket is replaced by polystyrene that is insulated from the outside environment by an aluminum box. The timing of the determination and the quality of the insulation is such that the environment has negligible effect on the determination. There are many advantages to the dry method.

Advanced ElectroMagnetics, Inc. (AEMI), developed the Absorbing Wall Module, which can be used within the cavity to absorb interfering signals on a selective basis, in order to help reduce moding problems. Basic features include portability which by simple movement will change moding conditions with changing frequencies.
The Absorbing Wall Module also eliminates moding hot spots and resonances while providing good wide angle performance. The use of EM materials for the modules provide low frequency performance, which will accommodate MIL-STD 461/462 applications.
The wall module is constructed by applying absorber materials to 24 gauge sheet metal. This permits increased efficiency in absorbing characteristics and also allows the user to shield the test environment from personnel or equipment behind the wall modules.

The broadband pyramidal absorber is manufactured in two basic geometrics, depending upon size and performance requirements; Conventional right pyramid and twisted pyramid.
The AEP-4 to AEP-48 absorbing materials are based upon a conventional pyramid having a square base with a uniform base thickness, tapered to a point.
The AEP-72 to AEP-96 absorbing materials are based upon a unique geometry with the peak twisted 45 degrees so that there are alternate peaks and valleys, increasing the performance and reducing the mismatch at the base transition.
This unique feature increases wide angle performance as well as increasing the mechanical support of the peak. This product configuration is also available in 36" and 48" sizes upon request.
The fabrication process differs with each of the two geometries. Both procedures have been established to ensure that complete impregnation with the dielectric lossy material and the fire retardant chemicals are achieved.

The Calorimeter can operate either as a stand-alone unit or via a PC. It can also be connected as a network. The Cooler reduces the temperature of a fired vessel by having its hot junction of the peltier elements cooled down by a continuous trickle of mains water supply. The Filling Station fills the vessel with oxygen to 3 Mpa at a controlled pace, so as not to disturb the sample in the crucible. The Vessel is the heart of the CAL2k system. It has an isothermal design with a microprocessor in its base. The Vessel also has a number of temperature sensors suppliers within its cylindrical walls, ensuring absolute accuracy.
