How to choose this product

A temperature transmitter uses electronic circuitry to send data via cable, fieldbus or radio frequency. Compact models have an integrated probe, while others are attached to a separate probe.
Applications
These devices are used in the chemical and petrochemical industries, and in HVAC installations for process control. The transmitted data allows a monitoring post to regulate the system.
Technologies
Probe-mounted transmitters use a standardized head. This also can be a compact model or one mounted on a DIN rail or on-site in a harsh environment. The probe uses a thermocouple, a two-, three- or four-wire platinum resistance or a voltage or current output.
Four-20 mA loop transmission requires only two wires, which also power the unit. The loop also may provide HART-protocol configuration and diagnostics. With more than two wires, the data can be sent via 0-10 V and the transmitter can be linked to a PROFIBUS or FOUNDATION fieldbus.
These devices ordinarily have galvanic isolation and may have their own display. Some can measure relative humidity or pressure.
