OverviewThe German-made OZ1.2 ozone disinfectant sensor employs a membrane-covered amperometric 2-electrode system to determine ozone concentration in surfactant-free waters (e.g. swimming-pool water, drinking water, service water, process water). Key attributes include automatic temperature compensation, monthly slope drift <1%, approximately 15 s T90 response, and flexible mounting/configuration options. The sensor is not intended to detect the absolute absence of ozone.
Special features- Membrane-covered amperometric 2-electrode measurement principle
- Short response time (T90 ≈ 15 s)
- Automatic temperature compensation via integrated temperature sensor
- Low monthly slope drift (<1%)
Applications- Swimming-pool water
- Drinking water
- Service and process water
- Cooling water
Ambient and operating conditions- No surfactants permitted in the measuring water
- Measuring water temperature: max. 45 °C (no ice crystals in the measuring water)
- Ambient temperature: 0 … +55 °C
- Max. allowed working pressure: typically up to 1 bar (see operation notes regarding retaining ring and pressure impulses)
Technical specification (table)- Measurement parameter: Ozone
- Measuring ranges / Resolution: 0.005 … 2.000 ppm (0.001 ppm); 0.03 … 20.00 ppm (0.01 ppm); other selectable ranges available
- Response time: T90 ≈ 15 seconds
- Measuring water temperature: 0 … +45 °C (no ice crystals)
- Ambient temperature: 0 … +55 °C
- Temperature compensation: automatic, integrated temperature sensor (avoid sudden temperature changes)
- Max. allowed working pressure: depending on retaining ring and installation (see operation notes)
- Flow rate (face velocity): approx. 15–30 L/h in flow cell (small flow dependence)
- pH range: 2–11
- Run-in time: first start-up approx. 1 h
- Zero point adjustment: not necessary
- Protection class examples: IP68 (5‑pole M12 plug-on flange) / IP65 (2‑pole terminal with mA hood)
- Materials: semipermeable membrane, PVC‑U, ABS
Notes- Not suitable for detecting the absolute absence of ozone
- Avoid sudden temperature changes to preserve measurement accuracy
