OverviewThe Versa Small Tube Cutter is a Class 1 laser system for precision machining of stents and small-diameter tubes in medical-device and aerospace production. A precision motion platform with an IPG fiber laser provides strict dimensional control for repeatable part quality and high yield.
Key features- Designed for laser cutting of small tubes and stents; tube diameter range 0.25–25 mm
- Available in 2-axis or 4-axis motion configurations to support complex geometries and off-center features
- Granite base for vibration damping and structural stiffness
- IPGCore software for coordinated control of motion axes, vision, laser parameters, process-head programming and auxiliary equipment; includes account validation, password control, self-checks and time-stamped records
- Choice of beam delivery heads: fine-kerf cutting head and IPG micro cutting head
Laser options- Continuous Wave (CW) and Quasi-CW for maximum throughput
- Nanosecond pulsed lasers for balanced throughput and quality
- Ultrafast pulsed lasers for ultra-precise stent cutting; can reduce or eliminate wet cutting
System control & integration- Full coordination of all motion axes and automated control of multiple laser processes
- Integration with vision systems for precise alignment; live camera view through focus lens and nozzle
- Optional barcode and RFID readers; optional MES communication modules
Fluid system (wet cutting) optionAn integrated fluid system provides continuous water flow through tubing to minimize heat and protect the part rear wall. Option includes fluid containment box, finished-part collection drawer, fluid recycling and flow control, and a stand-alone pump skid with system interface.
Automation & part handling- Manual loading with dual-action doors, gripper and fixed bushing assembly, accessible part collection box
- Optional automatic in-feed and out-feed tube handling supporting lengths from 450 to 3700 mm
- Two gas inputs with programmable pressure control for cutting assist gases
Applications- Precision cutting of medical stents and fine tubes
- Small-diameter tube processing for aerospace components and medical devices
- Process development, pilot runs and scale-up to volume production
