Overview
The COMBISTOP 38 is a closed-current spring-applied brake manufactured by KEB for over 50 years. It is suitable as a service brake for dynamic applications and as a holding brake with emergency-stop function for static applications. The brake is modular and configurable to customer requirements for braking torque and options. Standard torque range: 2.5 Nm to 2,000 Nm.

Options and features

• Manual release: Optional hand release for manual opening in de-energised situations or with worn rotors.
• Microswitch: From size 03, a microswitch can be fitted for function or wear monitoring; recommended for brake motors on hoists driven by frequency inverters.
• Flange / friction disc: Optional flange or friction disc to provide a suitable counter-friction surface if motor endshield properties are insufficient.
• Dust protection ring: Optional ring to increase IP protection in dusty/damp environments and provide touch protection (IP54 under motor hood, up to IP44 at open end).
• Shaft sealing ring / sealing plug: Shaft sealing ring for through shafts; sealing plug for applications without a shaft.
• CCV design: Available for harsh/cold environments (operating temperatures down to −40 °C).
• Encoder / accessory attachment: Rear threaded holes and bolt patterns for mounting rotary encoders, fans or sensors.
• Braking torque: Torque can be increased or reduced to customer specification during production; torque tolerance ±25% after pairing/conditioning of friction partners.
• Flat design / reduced installation depth: Housing and overall length can be reduced to meet specific installation depth requirements; delivered ready for use with adjusted settings.
• Customized voltages: Custom coil voltages available on request.
• Connector assembly: Optionally supplied with ready-to-connect cables, plugs or ferrules for simplified assembly.
• Certificates: Factory certificate 2.1 and acceptance test certificate 3.1 (e.g. torque test results) available on request.
