Product OverviewThe Fiberglass Tadpole Gasket is a flexible thermal sealing profile featuring a woven fiberglass outer cover and a compressible fiberglass core. Its all-fiberglass construction provides a soft, conformable sealing bulb suitable for industrial oven doors, furnace access panels, heated enclosures and other thermal equipment. Compared with metal-core tadpole seals, the fiberglass core offers softer compression and better conformity to minor surface variations. The integrated flat tail secures the gasket in position. BSTFLEX manufactures fiberglass tadpole gaskets in custom bulb diameters, tail widths, lengths and profiles for OEM and replacement applications.
All-Fiberglass Tadpole Gasket ConstructionThis profile uses fiberglass for both the external textile cover and the internal compressible core. The components perform distinct functions while working together as a single sealing profile.
Component / Construction / FunctionOuter Cover | Woven Fiberglass Fabric | Provides the flexible external thermal textile surface
Internal Core | Fiberglass Core | Creates a soft and compressible sealing body
Bulb | Fiberglass Cover with Fiberglass Core | Compresses against the mating surface to create the seal
Tail | Woven Fiberglass Fabric | Provides a flat area for mechanical attachment
How the Fiberglass Core Creates the SealThe bulb is the functional sealing section. When a door or panel closes, pressure compresses the bulb and the fiberglass core deforms to occupy the sealing gap. This compression compensates for small dimensional variations, surface irregularities and changes in gap size. Because the internal structure is fiberglass rather than metal mesh, the bulb delivers a comparatively soft compression characteristic while maintaining reliable sealing performance.
Why Choose a Fiberglass Core?- Soft, flexible compression
- High conformity to irregular sealing surfaces
- Non-metallic internal construction
- Low-profile flexibility around equipment geometry
- Suitable for many industrial thermal door applications
- Available in different bulb diameters
- Customizable compression characteristics via core construction
Woven Fiberglass Outer CoverThe external cover is produced from woven fiberglass textile. It contains the internal core, forms the mounting tail and provides the exposed surface of the gasket. The woven cover follows straight runs, corners and equipment contours while maintaining the bulb-and-tail profile and resisting elevated temperatures.
Typical Applications- Industrial oven doors (batch, curing, drying, walk-in, conveyor ovens)
- Furnace access doors and inspection panels
- Heat treatment equipment and thermal chambers
- Access panels and heated enclosures
- Industrial processing equipment and OEM thermal equipment
Fiberglass Core vs Stainless Steel Core (comparison)- Compression feel — Fiberglass core: softer; Stainless steel core: firmer and more structured
- Conformability — Fiberglass core: high; Stainless steel core: depends on mesh construction
- Metal reinforcement — Fiberglass core: none; Stainless steel core: present
- Bulb support — Fiberglass: provided by fiber core density; Stainless steel: provided by metallic structure
- Typical selection reason — Fiberglass: soft compression and flexibility; Stainless steel: mechanical reinforcement and resilience
