Overview: Reverse osmosis (RO) uses semi-permeable spiral-wound membranes to separate and remove dissolved solids, organic compounds, pyrogens, sub-micron colloids and bacteria from water. Feed water is delivered at approximately 16 kg/cm2 to the RO membranes. Permeate passes through membrane pores and is produced as purified water while impurities concentrate in the reject stream and are flushed to drain. Typical removal rates: 90–99% TDS, ~99% organics (including pyrogens) and ~99% bacteria depending on feed water and configuration.

Components table (No. | Name | Function | Remark): - 1 | Raw water tank | Store water, buffer pressure and stabilize feed to the system | Customer to provide due to transport cost for large tanks
- 2 | Raw water pump (booster pump) | Provide required pressure for pretreatment filters | CNP or Grundfos pumps available
- 3 | Mechanical filter / quartz sand filter | Fiberglass or stainless steel vessel filled with quartz sand to remove large particles, suspended solids and colloids |
- 4 | Activated carbon filter | Fiberglass or stainless steel vessel filled with activated carbon to remove color, odor, residual chlorine and organics |
- 5 | Security filter / PP sediment filter | Prevent large particles, bacteria and viruses entering RO membranes; nominal 5 micron
- 6 | High pressure pump | Supply working pressure for RO stages and ensure production capacity | CNP or Grundfos options
- 7 | RO (reverse osmosis) system | Removes particles, colloids, organic impurities, heavy metal ions, bacteria and viruses; high salt rejection depending on membranes | RO membranes: Filmtec (Dow)
- 8 | UV / Ozone generator | Disinfection: UV for direct drinking water, ozone for bottled water applications |
