PROBLEMThe ARVEDI Group operates large external filters that collect ash falling vertically into hoppers. Hoppers frequently experienced material build-up and bridging, forcing operators to hammer the hopper walls or stop suction fans for manual cleaning. These manual interventions caused production downtime and required maintenance teams on rotating shifts (4 people).
SOLUTIONSTANDARD INDUSTRIE recommended installing two Airchoc AC61010 air cannons (50 L reservoir) on each hopper, mounted on opposite side walls to cover the whole interior and prevent concretions and bridging. Each hopper is therefore equipped with two cannons positioned to clean the entire internal surface.
RESULTAfter installation on three hoppers, manual hammering became unnecessary and automatic cleaning eliminated the need for manual cleaning. Production stoppages were significantly reduced and maintenance staff could be reassigned. To date, 6 hoppers have been equipped (12 Airchocs); the plan is to outfit all 32 hoppers at a rate of approximately 3 hoppers every 3–4 months.
