Overview
Z+F LaserControl® Office and Scout are software solutions to work efficiently and fully with Zoller + Fröhlich laser scanners. A range of filters, measurement and registration tools enable advanced processing of scan data and provide the ability to filter, register and color 3D point clouds. Large selection of export formats enables import and further processing in common 3D software applications.

Essential Features & Filters
Direct scanner control and data transmission: direct communication via WLAN or LAN for flexible, secure and fast transfer of large amounts of data.

Viewer: three viewing/editing options — top view, 3D point cloud and 2D panorama view; viewers can be opened, closed, enlarged and reduced as needed.

System Check: quick check of scanner condition and determination whether recalibration is necessary.

Filter: numerous filter functions that optimize point cloud quality. Each filter generates a separate mask marking filtered points instead of deleting them, allowing return to original data and redefinition or reapplication of settings per scan.

Mirror Filter: projection and masking of mixed pixels caused by reflective surfaces (e.g. glass, mirrors).

Highly accurate Registration
Cloud-to-Cloud registration: automatic detection of overlapping areas between point clouds, enabling high accuracies and often allowing work without targets. From version 9 it is possible to perform bundle adjustment without external systems.

Plane-to-Plane registration / Technet Scantra: automatic detection and comparison of identical levels in overlapping areas; achieves accuracies in the hundredth of a millimeter range and applies a global adjustment to improve parameters.

Target registration: manual and automatic target detection and marking. From version 9, bundle adjustment can be performed natively to guarantee highly accurate registration results. Supports professional targets as well as paper tags and spheres for reference point creation.

Efficient Tools
Measurement functions: tools to determine angles, heights, widths and lengths for initial evaluations and project planning.

Auto-Snapping on edges and corners: aids fast detection of corners and edges; cursor snaps to edges near corner geometry.

Vertical measurements: tools for perpendicular measurements to determine distances between points and surfaces (room depths, heights, etc.).

Slice: create freely definable sections of a point cloud with free cut orientation; sections can be exported in dxf and txt formats.

Polygon tool: determine area dimensions and perimeters with high accuracy for organization, planning and analysis.

Plane tool: project measuring points onto a predefined-height plane to obtain area information.

Kinematics: tools for calculations, clearance gauge functions and visualization for 2D scans in mobile mapping applications.

Orthophotos: generate orthographic views, sections and scaled floor plans and export graphical results in various data formats.

Link tool: create external links to pictures, documents and other files at any scan position; these files are added to the project directory to form a unit with the scans.

Video plug-in: create short flight-through animations of point clouds for presentation; defined flight paths can be saved and reloaded.

Photography and Thermography
Combine 3D data with high-resolution photography and thermography to improve object recognition and provide documentary color and heat information. Z+F LaserControl® Office and Scout process HDR and thermal panorama images taken with i-Cam, T-Cam, M-Cam or external camera systems with largely automated procedures and optional manual intervention.

blue workflow®
The blue workflow® is a series of optimized work steps focusing on flexibility, data security and efficiency. With Z+F LaserControl® Scout and compatible Z+F IMAGER® scanners, point clouds can be registered, checked, processed and evaluated in real time in the field. The workflow enables:

• Registration of the point clouds
• Check of scanned targets
• Verification of data quality and quantity
• Direct integration of handheld scanner data

Multi-scanner feature
Multiple scanners can work simultaneously on the same project file and synchronize with a Windows tablet to support collaborative fieldwork.

Office-Link
Module providing project planning tools and a feedback loop between field and office. Project coordinators can start projects with groundplans or aerial photography, add annotations, images, documents and audio recordings, define and assign tasks, and plan scan positions. During a project, data including scans and images can be exchanged via FTP or cloud folders so office processing and field acquisition can run in parallel. Office Link features are available across Z+F LaserControl® Office and Scout packages, including Office Elements.
