CEPA centrifuges are characterized by their ability to process many times the volume of their tubular bowl. Fluid mixtures are fed into the bottom of the rapidly rotating separation chamber. Solids are retained, while liquid components are expelled from the top of the chamber through a collection tray. For liquid-liquid separations, two collection trays are used. The retained solids cake is dry and densely packed by the high G-forces of the CEPA centrifuge. Plastic bowl liners are available for models LE, Z41 and Z61 to facilitate cell paste removal.
The optimum size of a centrifuge for a given application depends on the properties of the process liquid. Typical process volumes specified for each centrifuge are approximate. Contact NBS for a no-obligation consultation regarding your specific application.

In the centrifugal drum there is a hydraulically activated sliding floor which moves in an upwards and rotational direction. The continuously fed materials first fall through the inlet funnel into the drum and land in a circle around the base of the drum wall.
The programmed sliding floor pushes the material in set cycles through the specifically designed bar screen integrated into the drum wall.At this point the material is separated into solids and fluids. The dried material is carried over the edge of the drum by the upwards push, bounces off the oil scraper ring on the housing wall and exits the centrifuge down through the tapered chip ejection funnel. The projected fluid flows off to the side along the fixed retaining wall down the diagonally placed outlet gulley under the drum into the adjacent holding tank.Subsequent material and the constant outwards motion of the sliding floor prevents the bar screen from sticking or getting blocked. The centrifuge's self-cleaning concept reduces cleaning work to the absolute minimum.
The sliding technology saves staff having to regularly clean the drums as they normally would. The machine housing stands on several oscillating components which ensure the centrifuge runs quietly.

The PERMOLEX-POLAR Centrifuge
The continously operating centrifuge for the recovery of coolants when swarf and grinding sludge are processed.
ADVANTAGES:
- Suitable for swarf of all common metall classes and grinding sludge
- Very low residual moisture achievable
- High wear resistance due to manganese lining
- Continuous and fully automatic operation
- Low maintenance and service cost
- Very high operational reliability
- Short payback period
FUNCTION:
The metal swarf mixed with coolants or grinding sludge are conveyed by means of a suitable controllable conveying device. The metering screw (optional for K41 – K101) in the charging hopper of the centrifuge has the task to feed the materials evenly into the drum. According to the kind of swarf, coolant and continuity of the swarf flow to the centrifuge the use of the metering screw can be dispensed with. For swarf tending to get stuck or to stick (e. g. aluminium) the use of the metering device is basically recommended.
Due to the particular drum design and the effect of the centrifugal force swarf is spun against the inner wall of the centrifugal drum and is then slowly pushed upward within the drum by succeeding swarf. The throughput capacity of the centrifuge and thus the dwell time of the swarf in the drum are determined by controlling the conveying speed of the conveyor.
At the largest drum diameter the coolant passes out of the drum through an exchangeable bar screen into the spinning off area.
The dried swarf is pushed over the upper drum rim. Outside it is spun against an exchangeable manganese rebounding ring. Swarf and coolant are separately led out of the centrifuge.

Cleaning centrifuge for continuous separation and cleaning of cooling lubricants and washing fluids.
The liquid to be cleaned is supplied by a connection in the centre of the cover and reaches the bottom of the application vessel through a conducting cone. By accelerating the liquid, the sedimentation movement is immediately initiated for separating all specifically heavy solid impurities such as grinding and turning chips. The cleaned liquid rises upward and is conducted away via a skimming pipe. Due to the high-speed acceleration, the cleaned liquid rises up to 3 metres through the skimming pipe. The solid material in the application vessel is manually lifted out.
The RZ 400 is specially designed for separating non-emulsified oil from cooling lubricant emulsions or saturated washing fluids. This is a problem, for example, with hydraulically controlled automated machines and processing centres or washing systems. In this case, the two liquid phases are separated and the heavier solid material is collected in the application vessel. The liquid phases are carried out without pressure and have to be collected in a tank. The solid material in the application vessel is manually lifted out.

Manual Clean Centrifuges
Sanborn Technologies offers one of the largest selection of manual-clean centrifuges in the industry. These centrifuges are common in applications with moderately low solids concentrations where the solids are cleaned out of the centrifuge periodically by hand. Designs range from liquid-liquid and liquid-solid (2-phase separators) to liquid-liquid-solid (3-phase separators) in both basket-type and high-speed disc configurations.
Automatic Discharge Centrifuges
Automatic discharge centrifuges are found in applications with moderate to high solids concentrations where the solids need to be discharged frequently from the centrifuge. Designs include a range of 2-phase and 3-phase separators in both basket-type and high-speed disc configurations.
Tank Mounted Systems
We offer a wide range of tank mounted systems to fit the most common machine tool applications. These systems range from single tank and pump configurations to sophisticated custom-designed tank, pump and control systems with multiple centrifuges and coolant chillers.
High-Speed Disc Centrifuges
Sanborn Technologies' Integrated Fluid Recovery (IFR) systems, utilizing high-speed disc centrifuges, have been a central part of our product offerings for over 25 years. These IFR systems include multiple unit operations in a single compact system for complete maintenance of machine tool sumps. Models range from the mobile Puritan, designed to service a single sump at a time, up to the Patriot central system, complete with clean/dirty tanks and automated coolant make-up. The Pioneer is designed for batch central systems and can be mobile.
