The Zero-Max CD Coupling is a unique hybrid coupling combining the best features found in both steel disk and elastomeric couplings. Through its patented open arm design and use of rugged composite materials, the coupling offers high misalignment and high torsional stiffness.
All models are available with Setscrew or Clamp style hubs. Hubs are available with steel or aluminum hubs for single flex and double flex.
Single Flex and Double Flex are now available with Low Inertia Aluminum Hubs.

Lovejoy brings to the market the best disc coupling yet to be offered. The Lovejoy disc coupling utilizes the latest design efforts through Finite Element Analysis, extensive testing of materials and couplings, and several years of operational experience in actual applications. The Lovejoy disc coupling is manufactured in the ISO 9001 certified manufacturing facilities of both companies.
Types of couplings include the three-piece industrial spacer unit used for general industrial applications and on OEM equipment. The five-piece dropout coupling is specially suited for refinery and API type applications. The close-coupled units fit in place of standard gear couplings.

Disc Couplings
All disc couplings now have a black anodized finish.
Ruland disc couplings are available in single and double disc styles with bore sizes ranging from 1/8" to 1 1/4" in the inch series and 3mm to 30mm in the metric series. The disc coupling is composed of two black anodized aluminum hubs, multiple flat stainless steel disc springs and a center spacer for double disc styles. The center spacer is available in a choice of anodized aluminum or insulating acetal for electrical isolation. The thin discs allow for a substantial amount of angular and parallel misalignment between shafts, while remaining rigid under torque loads. The disc coupling, as a result, is a high performance motion control coupling with excellent high speed capabilities (up to 10,000 rpm), strength and torsional stiffness characteristics, and low inertia for today's highly responsive systems.

These couplings are designed for use on general applications. The units are offered as standard, but can also be modified to incorporate options including torque limitation, torque measurement, etc. The arrangement maybe adapted to permit connection to machines by any conventional form.
• DS units will accept angular & axial misalignment only. If radial misalignment is expected, D or DJ units should be considered.
• DJ units consist of factory assembled transmission units. Installation involves fitting this transmission unit between the hubs and tightening the attachment screws only. This leads to easier and more rapid installation.

HS High Performance Couplings
The operating principle of disc couplings means that they can be designed using any even number of bolts (4 or above). Half these bolts fit to the "Driving" side and half to the "Driven" side. Hence, in a coupling with a total of 6 bolts (6HS), drive is through 3 bolts. This means that, for a given diameter of coupling, more torque can be transmitted through the 8-bolt (8HS) unit than the 6-bolt (6HS) coupling. However, as the number of bolts increases on a given diameter, the ‘span’ between them decreases and,
hence, so does the flexibility of the discs.
This brochure outlines couplings with 6, 8 & 10-bolt arrangements. The 6-bolt units have the higher flexibility and the 10-bolt units the higher torque capacity. The 8- bolt (8HS) units offer a compromise of flexibility against torque capacity and are often a good starting point if misalignment expectations are unknown.

Powerful and compact
Torque transmission is possible by means of PETER shrink-on disks.
The principle is thoroughly convincing especially in input and output connections by means of hollow shafts. Contrary to keyed connections, the non-positive connection by means of shrink-on disks permits considerably thinner wall thicknesses for the hollow shafts since the greatest part of the torque transfer is absorbed by the shrink-on disk and the shaft is not weakened by additional slots.
This results in lower shaft diameters and consequently volumetric savings in the remaining system. Weight, moments of inertia and space can be elegantly saved in this manner.
Other factors in favour of shrink-on disks are
• high performance density
• detachable connection
• rapid and simple assembly
• economic use

CHARACTERISTICS
1. SLIT INNER RING
Low load losses and pressures on the hub.
2. BALANCING OF SMALLER DEVIATIONS IN TOLERANCES
For more information please contact our Technical Department.
3. HIGHEST RELIABILITY
Applicable for static, dynamic and impact loads.
4. SIMPLE MANUFACTURE OF THE COMPONENTS
Only low demands are made to the functional surfaces of the clamped
parts.
5. ABSOLUTE INTERCHANGEABILITY
Shrink Discs RINGFEDER® operate without any form closure.
6. EASY MOUNTING
Machining or fitting work is not required, standard tools suffice.
7. SHORT ASSEMBLY TIMES
Cost savings especially in serial production.
8. EASY REMOVAL
After loosening of the locking screws, the Shrink Disc RINGFEDER® is
released. The hub can be moved on the shaft freely.
9. LOW SUSCEPTIBILITY TO CONTAMINATION
Increased durability, as after tightening of the locking screws the
contact surfaces are pressed firmly together. Dirt and moisture cannot
ingress the functional surfaces.

Twin Disc offers a complete line of Fluid Couplings for applications in the 15 to 850 hp range. Whether used with electric motor or engine driven equipment, Twin Disc Fluid Couplings offer great performance benefits.
FREES MOTORS DURING HEAVY STARTS - During heavy starts and sudden running load increases, lugging and motor stalling and burning is prevented. The Fluid Coupling simply "slips" while it smoothly picks up the load.
PROVIDES CUSHIONED DRIVE - Mechanical connection is eliminated; horsepower and torque are transmitted entirely through mass and velocity of fluid. Smooth, sustained power flow without damaging shocks and strains.
IMPROVES DISTRIBUTION OF LOAD ON COMPOUNDED DRIVES - Power sources no longer "fight" each other. Each is free to seek its own operating speed, while the Fluid Couplings balance the load requirements at each point of operation.
NO SHOCK LOAD TRANSFER - Protects both driving and driven equipment by smoothing out shock loads and preventing them from striking solid resistance. Also, torsional vibration from engines or driven units is damped out.
