The quality of spot welding depends on the force applied by the electrodes as well as on the intensity of the welding current. Within such a control program, the measurement of the force applied by the electrodes is extremely important for ensuring constant production.
That is why we have developed this equipment to measure the closing force of the grips that may be used during the final stage or during periodic maintenance. The end-pieces are interchangeable and can be used to measure force with various shapes of electrodes, the minimum closing dimension being 0.12 in.
This new instrument leverages the robustness, quality and precision of the Centor instrument family, which are specially designed for mobile use in a production workshop.

FemtoTools sensors are highly precise and highly productive force sensing tools, which can measure forces down to nanonewton (10-9).
Conventional force sensors are usually based on strain gauges and can only measure forces down to milli-Newton (10-3). Our FT-S270 and FT-S540 are produced in a special manner, which is already successfully used in the IC industry, and allows to operate (work) in a unique (an unreached) force sensing range between the atomic force microscope (AFM) and conventional force sensors.
The individual calibration of the FT-S270 and the FT-S540 force sensors guarantees a high measurement accuracy and readout speed. A calibration data sheet is delivered for each individual sensor.

Multi-component force measurement places high demands on the measuring device. The characteristics of the force vector to be measured largely determine the result. The size and direction of the force application point, as well as the dynamics, should have as little effect as possible on the process.
With the new Kistler Type 9327, 9347, 9367 and 9377 sensors, our company's established experience and know-how is now available even for multi-component force measurements carried out by the customer. The precisely preloaded measuring elements are easy to fit and, as they come ready calibrated from the factory, they can be used immediately for multi-component force measurements.

Testweld™ KR1000 Robot Welder Force Monitor (For measuring electrode force on resistance welding guns)
ADVANTAGES:
• Robot checking of Electrode Force
• No need to stop robot cells for force checking
• Very fast payback
• Alerts operators to immediate faults & variations
• Can eliminate scrap due to weld deterioration
• Reduces equipment damage and wear
• Keeps force within preset limits
• Gives early warning of equipment deterioration
• Continuous robot operation via go/no go signals
DESCRIPTION - KR1000:
Stand alone analogue output force sensor. Supplied for direct plug and play replacement to commonly existing units.
The target pads remain spatially the same. Robot reprogramming for test position is not required.
The monitor is preset to Zero on no load but can be simply adjusted by the user if required.
The innovative design of the KR1000 force head makes it far less susceptible to errors induced by electrodes not being perpendicular to the target pads.
Exacting construction standards guarantee this instrument is of greater accuracy than other monitors of this kind.
Multiple testing during construction further assist in achieving the superiority that we have set out to achieve.
When coupled to its onboard electronics package the sensor is preset for zero load & calibrated
to a known (NPL) standard.
The KR1000 is robust, durable, reliable, and accurate. KR1000’s have been installed on Car Manufacturing lines since 2005 and have been in constant use without failures.

Testweld™ Hand Held Electronic Force Gauge
An ergonomically designed hand held force gauge.
ADVANTAGES
User comfort "'Ergonomically" designed - for ease of use
One piece unit
Very high accuracy
Swivel head allows access to difficult to reach positions
As with all welding procedures, it is important to eliminate as many variables as possible in order to achieve optimum welding consistently over long periods.
Electrode force is one of the critical parameters in obtaining repeatable, reliable resistance spot welds.
Force can vary because of variable factory air pressure, water in the air lines causing air cylinders to deteriorate and loss of air pressure due to worn seals.
This self contained instrument uses a cell with a force sensor to provide accurate digital read out for auditing weld electrode forces.
Accuracy of this instrument is better than 0.2% and can be switched to read 0-2000 kg, 0-20.00 kN or 0-4400lbs.
In cases of difficult access the head of the swivel head gauge can be swiveled at least ±72º up or down and rotates at least ±90º. Once the desired position is reached it can be fixed by a simple hand tightened knob. A 90 mm long handle is provided for optional use with 2 mountain positions either in-line or at 90º.
A support wrist strap is attached to the gauge so that in the event that it is forced out of the operators hand by misaligned electrodes, it need not fall to the floor and be damaged.
|
|
Faults in welding tongs or incorrect process parameters in welding can result in production line waste or defective parts. Checking the electrode force periodically permits spark malfunctions to be detected at an early stage so that repairs can be carried out in good time.
The new Type 9833A test sensor allows precise and reliable measurements to be carried out with minimal electrode gaps. The built-in charge amplifier simplifies the task of mounting and helps to ensure the reliability required by the automobile industry.

HBM force transducers measure static and dynamic tensile and compressive loads - and virtually without any displacement. Force sensors can be supplied in the most varied of designs and classes of accuracy. Typical application areas include bench testing, e.g. force measurement to check material quality and automation technology, e.g. for monitoring quality during reshaping or bonding operations. HBM's own DKD calibration laboratory mirrors the company's competence in the area of force measurement.

Honeywell Sensing and Control Force sensors operate on the principle that the resistance of silicon implanted piezoresistors will increase when the resistors flex under any applied force. The sensor concentrates force from the application, through the stainless steel plunger, directly to the silicon sensing element. The amount of resistance changes in proportion to the amount of force being applied. This change in circuit resistance results in a corresponding mV output level.

SS2
Range ±30grams, 12mV/V output
The SS2-3 load cells have been designed for applications where precision measurement of extremely low forces is required. They are based upon
bonded semi-conductor strain gauge technology, conferring excellent sensitivity and eliminating the fragility associated with unbonded strain gauge types.
The design features excellent immunity to the effects of eccentric loading, side loading and bending moments.
Forces may be applied either in tension or compression and alternative loading adaptors are available. The low deflection and consequent high frequency response ensures that the unit is suitable for measuring peak and transient forces.

Smaller than a no. 2 pencil tip, this submergible micro-force transducer is ideal for medical research applications. The AIFP® is constructed from micro-machined stainless steel and heat treated to form an elliptical spring microstructure, which deforms elastically when loaded. This construction allows the device to accurately and reproduceably measure applied forces.
A quarter bridge strain gauge bonded to the structure provides a sensititve output, linearly proportional to force. The strain gauge's self temperature coefficient is matched to the stainless steel substrate to minimize the effect of temperature on probe output. The elliptical cross section and 3-conductor flat tape cable keep the device anchored and oriented within fibrous materials. In addition, bridge completion resistors are included in the AIFP's® integral connector.
For implantation, a trocar and slotted cannula are used to bury the transducer within the tissue substance. A suture may be placed in an aperture located in the wall of the probe to facilitate probe removal. The AIFP® is coated with high temperature polyimide and parylene coatings for protection against moisture and saline solutions.

The forces which arise in industrial processes such a press-fit, punching or crimping often have implications for the quality of the final connection. Such forces can also be measured indirectly in terms of the strain occurring at the surface of the machine structure. This is often simpler than taking a direct force measurement, which requires the sensor to be built into the structure.
Kistler's new Type 9234A… strain transmitter with integral amplifier is fitted to the machine very simply by means of a single M6 screw. Thanks to its high sensitivity, accurate measurements are possible even with extremely rigid machine structures.
The robust transmitter is particularly suitable for use with presses and assembly line robots.
