Handheld tightening system with automatic screw feeding can process 2 geometrically similar screws, for example differing in length or made from different materials (e.g. stainless steel/browned steel) to feed a screwdriver. Screw choice is managed by the feeder’s PLC through a selector or by an external signal.

The associated brushless electric screwdriver can have
different tightening process control systems:• torque control with mechanical clutch
• torque/angle/time control and monitoring with integrated transducer and resolver
• torque/angle/time control and monitoring through current absorption and integrated sensors
These latest technologies allow assemblies with different parameters of torque, speed, etc.: the same tightening system can tighten the same screw on different joints simply by adapting the programs on the coupled unit.
Available 2 tightening devices:
• FORWARD BIT STROKE: patented by Fiam, allows the bit to advance automatically and reduces operator fatigue, keeps the screw tip in sight. During tightening phase, the screwdriver head does not touch the component surfaces, thereby avoiding any friction and damage.

TELESCOPIC: allows to reach tightening points in inaccessible spaces and therefore inside holes thanks to its telescopic stroke of 40, 60 and 100 mm
2 built-in sensors make it possible two tightening modes with:

Screw feeder ED B 2|1: - 2 bowl 240 mm in Ø for screws between 10 and 35 mm in lenght and integrated:
- Over-load sensor: to ensure keeping the correct quantity of screws on linear rail
- Screws selector: allows production increase for the “screw shot” inside a closed chamber
- Pneumo-electric device: equipped with Festo components
- Low level sensor: indicates when the bowl needs screw reloading
- Analogic line pressure switch: controls the incoming air pressure for the correct operation of different screw feeder functions and of the pneumatic tightening devices
- Structure in stainless steel: with transparent cover and lateral panels that can be dismantled for maintenance activity
- Filter, pressure regulator and lubricator with gauge already integrated in the machine
INTERCONNECTIVITY FOR INDUSTRY 4.0- Integrated PLC to set and manage the tightening cycle basing on the specific application using the functional external keypad
- It connects to the several devices on the production line: conveyor belt, barcode readers, workpiece clamping jig, signalling and monitoring mechanisms such as LEDs, part counters, light towers.etc.
- EDMI (EasyDriver Machine Interface) is a Web Server interface integrated into the screw feeder. It allows remote connection to the tightening unit via PC, smartphone or tablet.
- Diagnostic messages: diagnostics, suggestions as to possible main causes of inefficiency, real-time monitoring of the signal generating the issue, colour display to mirror machine status
- Modbus serial communication protocol via ethernet RJ45 relating to the Factory system
- Testing mode: allows the machine to perform free running tightening cycles for setting, installing and monitoring the machine
- Data log: at each tightening cycle or in case of anomaly, the main tightening data are stored and can be easily copied from the SD memory card present in the PLC to a PC
