Description

Overview
The WRA-F series is a contactless linear position transducer based on HYPERWAVE magnetostrictive technology. With a PROFINET IO (IEEE 802.3) interface, the device provides precise real-time absolute position measurement and optional speed output for industrial automation and motion control. The contactless cursor eliminates wear and reduces maintenance, ensuring long operational lifetime.

Functionality and Smart Features
The WRA-F supports real-time transmission of position and velocity process data and immediate alarms. Configurable via GSDML files, it supplies auxiliary diagnostic information on demand (operating hours, actual temperature and peak values, power-supply coherence, cursor presence/count, PROFINET communication diagnostics) to support predictive maintenance and Industry 4.0 data workflows.

Fieldbus and Profiles
The transducer is available in RT (Real Time) and IRT (Isochronous Real Time) variants and supports PROFINET IO, including General Profile and Encoder Profile (v.4.2). General Profile allows management of up to 16 independent floating-ring cursors; Encoder Profile supports a single ring cursor. Profinet IRT enables synchronized communication with minimum cycle times down to 250 μs for deterministic applications.
