Description
The Hardinge FlexC® Style A Collet System comprises a spindle-mounted assembly. Vulcanized collet heads and wrenches are ordered separately. The Style A Dead-Length® system can operate as a thru-hole for bar feeding or be used with a workstop for chucking. The clamping heads are made of hardened steel segments joined by vulcanization, ensuring parallel clamping, minimal part deformation and quick-change capability. When used as a dead-length system the workstop is installed in the workstop adapter; it can be removed when part-length control is not required.

Operation
The Hardinge FlexC® Style A is a pull-back system: the collet pulls the part against a stationary workstop to control part length, providing very stable gripping and improved tool life due to increased rigidity of the gripping unit. Short-grip operations are possible by machining a dedicated workstop to the required length. The workstop is removable for bar work. Provides a +/- 0.020 in grip range and accuracy up to 0.0004 in.
