Slotted collet 25C

Overview
Emergency collets are used when stepped, non-standard or special-shape workpieces must be held quickly for drilling, boring or machining. The 25C emergency collet is a C-series emergency collet without a pilot hole and with four longitudinal slots, allowing controlled radial compression for non-standard sizes. Where applicable, a soft face permits rapid modification on the bench and pins can be fitted for precision machining.

Extended-Nose Option
Extended-nose versions of the emergency collet allow deeper counterbores and additional tool clearance for extended workpieces. These variants maintain internal threads for positive stops. The collet shank on 25C units is finished for direct mounting to the machine spindle; the nose can be machined in place to achieve the necessary accuracy for special arbors.

Product background
Hardinge C-series collets are the result of over a century of experience serving the machining industry. Manufactured from special alloy steel, threads are heat-treated and bodies are spring-tempered to ensure dimensional accuracy and durability. C-series collets offer through-capacity up to and including 2" round, 1-3/4" hexagon and 1-3/8" square. The C-series includes precision internal threads for compatible Hardinge positive stops.
