OverviewPlaneveyor seismic isolation products provide building and equipment isolation using sliding, controlled friction and cross-roller restoration principles. Atec supplies four product concepts (PS, PIU, PFC, CRX) designed to reduce transmission of ground motion to structures and to isolated equipment. Typical applications include residential buildings, condominiums, offices, hospitals, government buildings, schools and equipment/shelving isolation.
Key technologies / materials- Materials: steel, stainless steel, resin
- Standards and compliance: RoHS
- Intellectual property: patented designs where applicable
Isolation principlePlaneveyor units create an isolation layer between ground and structure or between structure and equipment to limit direct transmission of earthquake shaking. By decoupling motions, the system reduces building tremor, minimizes risk of furniture collapse and limits damage to building contents, facilitating faster recovery of normal operations.
Earthquake resistance vs conventional designConventional seismic resistance relies on structural rigidity and load transfer through fixed connections. In contrast, Planeveyor isolates and dissipates motion at the support interface, reducing amplified transmission to upper floors and lowering the risk of secondary damage such as falling objects or glass breakage.
PS (Plane Slider) seriesThe PS series uses multiple load-bearing balls with a sliding mechanism to support heavy loads and allow controlled relative movement between foundation and building. Balls and rubber elements at the base reduce transmitted tremor. A removable prevention cover protects balls during handling (remove cover for operation).
PS series — Recommended load capacities- PS-50: 49 kN (5 tf)
- PS-80: 78.4 kN (8 tf)
PIU (Planeveyor Isolator Unit) seriesPIU units are intended for furniture and equipment isolation. The lower element synchronizes with ground motion while the upper unit slides to absorb short and long-duration shaking; under large long-duration events the unit slips to dissipate energy.
PIU series — Recommended load capacitiesPFC (Plane Friction Control) seriesPFC units provide adjustable frictional resistance to control rolling behavior of the Planeveyor. Ball running surfaces use hard materials (e.g., iron) to obtain target friction characteristics and absorb motion by controlled slip.
PFC series — Recommended load capacitiesCRX (Cross Roller Unit) seriesCRX units mitigate vibration using cross rollers on two stages (X and Y axes). Rollers allow movement during shaking and guide restoration to the original position after motion ceases.
CRX series — Recommended load capacitiesCharacteristics / technical specifications- Product family: Seismic Isolation Planeveyor (PS, PIU, PFC, CRX series)
- Primary function: seismic isolation via sliding, friction control or cross-roller restoration
- Applications: buildings (residential, office, public), hospitals, schools, equipment and furniture isolation
- Materials: steel, stainless steel, resin
- Compliance: RoHS
- Example models and capacities: PS-50 (49 kN / 5 tf), PS-80 (78.4 kN / 8 tf), PIU-3 (2,940 N / 300 kgf), PFC-5 (4,900 N / 500 kgf), CRX (39.2 kN / 4 tf)
- Design notes: PS uses multiple balls and sliding; PIU slides to absorb short and long shakes; PFC provides adjustable friction; CRX uses cross rollers for positional restoration
