Overview
Programming tool for S5 PLCs. S5 for Windows® provides tools to create, modify, test and document programs for SIMATIC S5 PLCs using STEP5. Presentations include Function Block Diagram (FBD), Ladder Diagram (LAD) and Statement List (STL). Existing STEP5 programs can be edited directly without import/export. The package is compatible with original Siemens programming units and integrates S5 Doctor functions for automatic troubleshooting.

Features and functionality
S5 for Windows® includes a Statusrecorder that logs block status with timestamps and enables switching between STL, CSF and LAD views for frame-by-frame analysis. An integrated Oscilloscope feature allows monitoring and analysis of dynamic signals; I/O signals and local variables can be probed with a virtual test probe. Recorded signal data can be saved for later analysis or archiving. A symbolic table editor with search & replace, rewiring and syntax check is provided. A multiple-segment editor supports creation and editing of statement lists, function block diagrams and ladder diagrams for complex functions. Cross-references and symbol files are shown with correct addresses and can be edited simultaneously. Statement lists can be converted to FBD or LAD where applicable. CPU status provides information on interrupt stack, block stack and system data. The software supports calling STEP5 COM packages and can communicate with a PLC via a USB adapter (USB-PLC communication is supported on older Windows versions as noted).

G5 for Windows® (included)
G5 for Windows® (Step Sequence Programming) is included and provides graphical programming of sequential steps within a STEP5 program. It supports linear and branching sequences, up to 8 parallel branches, jumps, and step timing. Steps and transitions are displayed graphically and can be edited simultaneously in LAD, CSF or STL. The graphical step sequence is compatible with SIEMENS GRAPH5 / GRAPH5/II and requires standard SIEMENS Function and Step Blocks (FB70/71 - SB0, FB72 - SB2, FB73 - SB3).

Additional notes
Existing S5 programs can be edited directly without import/export. The Windows clipboard can be used for program and configuration operations. Recorded diagnostic and signal data can be archived or exported for further analysis.
