Description
The S7-Simulation-PLC is a software PLC that executes SIMATIC S7 programs on a PC for development, testing and online monitoring. It behaves like a hardware PLC, allowing real-time visibility of PLC status without recompilation. Programming tools S7 for Windows® and STEP7 can be used directly.

Hardware access and fieldbus
The S7-Simulation-PLC supports access to hardware ports (note: hardware-port access is not available under Windows Vista). Fieldbus integration is simplified and Modbus TCP is supported. An integrated I/O monitor enables easy observation and modification of I/O signals.

Access methods

• Serial port: data exchange via zero-modem cable.
• TCP/IP Ethernet: access using the IBHNet driver.
• Siemens ISO on TCP (RFC1006): online functions via this protocol.

Integration and communication
The S7-Simulation-PLC installed on a PC enables process monitoring, operation and control from one unit. Access is possible via IBH OPC Server, IBHNet, RFC1006, DLL or the integrated Modbus TCP Server. Many visualization vendors support the integrated Modbus TCP Server. A DLL is provided for fast data exchange with other Windows applications.

PLC - PLC communication
Ethernet-based data exchange between multiple PLCs is supported. The S7-Simulation-PLC emulates a communications processor compatible with Siemens CP343/CP443, enabling Send/Receive connections between S7-Simulation-PLCs or between S7-Simulation-PLC and Siemens hardware PLCs. Configuration is performed with the STEP7 NetPro tool.
