Real-time S7 SoftPLC overview
The IBH SoftPLC S7-315 / S7-416 executes S7 programs like a hardware PLC and provides real-time status display. It emulates a SIMATIC PLC so programming tools such as STEP7 and the TIA Portal can be used without modification. Online connections are available via serial, Ethernet, PROFIBUS DP or locally on the same PC.

Key functions
The SoftPLC enables process monitoring, operation and control from a single PC-based unit, eliminating the need for a separate hardware PLC in many applications. It supports direct access when the programming system is installed on the same PC and includes drivers for standard connectivity and fieldbus hardware.

Communication and integration
The S7 SoftPLC integrates a Modbus TCP Server and is compatible with the IBH OPC Server for Ethernet or local IPC communication. A DLL is provided for fast data exchange with other Windows applications. The SoftPLC supports access to standard I/O boards and intelligent fieldbus boards and includes an integrated IO monitor for fieldbus configuration.

Networking and multi-PLC communication
Ethernet data exchange between multiple PLCs is supported. The SoftPLC includes a communications processor compatible with Siemens CP343/CP443 enabling Send/Receive connections between SoftPLCs or between SoftPLC and Siemens PLCs. Network configuration is performed using the Step7 NetPro tool or the TIA Portal.

Additional functions and OEM
The PC environment provides extra capabilities beyond standard S7 instructions: custom function blocks in C++ can be integrated to develop specific hardware drivers and I/O. For OEM integration, S7 versions for Linux and Windows CE are available for various CPU architectures.
