Detailed description
S5 for Windows® provides the tools to create, modify, test and document STEP5 programs for Siemens SIMATIC S5 PLCs. It supports Statement List (STL), Function Block Diagram (FBD) and Ladder Diagram (LAD) presentations and allows direct editing of existing S5 programs without import/export. Compatibility with the original Siemens programming unit is maintained. Integrated S5 Doctor functions assist with automatic troubleshooting.

The Statusrecorder logs block status frame by frame with timestamps, enabling stepwise analysis and switching between STL, CSF and LAD presentations for detailed diagnostics.

The Oscilloscope feature enables integrated monitoring and analysis of dynamic processes. Multiple I/O signals and local variables can be probed with a virtual test probe, recorded, stopped for timing analysis, saved for archiving or exported by e-mail.

An integrated symbolic table editor with search & replace, rewiring and syntax check simplifies symbol handling. The multi-segment editor supports creation of complex statement lists, FBDs and LADs with mouse and keyboard. Cross-references and symbol files with correct addresses are shown and editable in context. Statement lists can be converted to FBD or LAD where applicable. CPU status gives information on interrupt stack, block stack and system data.

S5 for Windows® supports calling STEP5 COM packages. PLC communication via USB adapter is possible (USB adaptor support for communication on Windows 2000 and Windows XP (32 Bit) only).

The G5 for Windows® graphical Step Sequence Programming (included) provides an intuitive editor for sequencer control within STEP5 programs. It supports linear and branching sequences, simultaneous branches and jumps, and is compatible with SIEMENS GRAPH5 / GRAPH5/II and the standard SIEMENS Function and Step Blocks.
