Description
S7 for Windows ® Version 7 is a programming tool for Siemens SIMATIC S7-300 and S7-400 PLCs. The software runs standalone or combined with S5 for Windows® and implements the complete S7 instruction set in Statement List (STL), Function Block Diagram (SFC) and Ladder Diagram (LAD).

Overview
S7 for Windows ® provides an efficient environment to develop, edit and maintain S7 projects. All representations (STL/SFC/LAD) are fully supported and STEP7 projects can be opened and edited directly without import/export. The product supports a flexible multi-window workflow and second-screen use for improved operator guidance.

Online and operational features
All online functions are implemented: integrated variable views, symbolic tables and full status operation in STL, SFC and LAD. Installed PLC interfaces are displayed in the online view and password protection can prevent write accesses to the PLC. Module and hardware diagnostics are available for fast troubleshooting.

Project and editing
Direct editing of STEP7 projects, opening of archived projects, signal traceability and cross-references over I/O modules are supported. Conversion from S5 to S7 has been optimized. Print preview and forcing of operands are implemented and project saving on memory card is supported (CPU dependent).

Simulation, debugging and diagnostics
Version 7 includes S7-Simulation, comfortable block comparison (BlockDiff) and integrated S7 Doctor functions for automated troubleshooting. The Statusrecorder logs block status with timestamps and allows frame-by-frame analysis and switching between STL, SFC and LAD. An integrated oscilloscope-like view and virtual test probe facilitate monitoring and recording of dynamic signals for analysis and archiving.

Hardware configuration and catalogue
The hardware configuration module enables parametrization of modules, address allocation and PROFIBUS configuration. The hardware catalogue contains Siemens PROFIBUS components and compatible third-party devices and can be extended with GSD files. Existing STEP7 hardware configurations can be read and edited both offline and from a PLC.
