Product composition
The combined S5+S7 application includes all functions of S5 for Windows® and S7 for Windows® in a single package, enabling seamless work on mixed S5 and S7 installations.

S5 programming
S5 for Windows® provides tools for authoring and maintaining STEP5 programs for SIMATIC S5 PLCs. Supported languages: STL, FBD and LAD. Direct editing of existing S5 projects without import/export, compatibility with the original Siemens programming unit, integrated S5 Doctor for automated troubleshooting and a symbolic table editor with search/replace and syntax checks.

Statusrecorder and Oscilloscope
Statusrecorder records block status frames with timestamps for step‑by‑step analysis and allows switching between STL, CSF and LAD views. The integrated Oscilloscope visualizes dynamic signals; virtual probes and signal recording support timing analysis and data archiving.

G5 (Step Sequence Programming)
G5 supports graphical step sequence programming within STEP5 projects. It covers linear and branching sequences, parallel branches (up to eight), jumps, step timing/watchdog, customizable step display and a symbolic library with status indicators.

S7 programming
S7 for Windows® targets SIMATIC S7‑300 and S7‑400 PLCs with full STEP7 instruction set implemented in STL, SFC and LAD. Features include online functions, S7 simulation, block comparison (BlockDiff), traceability across I/O modules, password protection and S7 Doctor automated diagnostics.

Hardware configuration and communication
Hardware configuration supports module parametrization, address allocation and PROFIBUS setup. The hardware catalogue contains original Siemens PROFIBUS components and third‑party entries (GSD support). Existing STEP7 configurations can be opened, edited offline or read from PLC. Online connections via SINEC L2, H1 or USB adapter are supported.

Additional technical capabilities
COM package integration, multiple status representations (STL, CSF, LAD), symbolic views, diagnostic data recording and archiving are supported.
