Thin-film power resistor for compact, switching power applications The M35 is a thin-film metal power resistor for applications requiring high power on the PCB, low-inductance behaviour and a standard TO-263 package. The device in TO-263 (D-PAK) can be mounted directly on the PCB and reflow-soldered at 260 °C for 20 s, making it well suited to modern, assembly-friendly production processes. With a power rating of 35 W or 50 W @ 25 °C on heatsink (2.5 W without heatsink), the M35 covers typical tasks in power stages, switch-mode power supplies, charge/discharge circuits and driver stages. The resistance range from 0.05 Ω to 100 kΩ allows use as a low-ohmic load or shunt resistor as well as in higher-ohmic branches for current or voltage limiting. Resistance tolerances between ±0.5% and ±10% provide a choice from tighter tolerances to robust standard values, depending on the application. The low-inductance design with <10 nH reduces parasitic effects in switching or high-frequency applications – a major advantage over traditional wirewound resistors in switched-mode power supplies, DC/DC converters or drive electronics. The temperature coefficients are arranged in classes (±50, ±100, ±200, ±300 ppm/°C) and can be selected according to resistance value; the operating temperature range from −55 °C to +175 °C supports use in thermally demanding environments.
