Description

Overview
Omniseal Solutions is the only source of genuine Rulon® blended PTFE-filled materials since the creation of Rulon® A in the early 1950s. Available in hundreds of formulations, these engineered PTFE compounds can be designed into bearings, piston rings, cup seals, wear components and other critical parts for industrial and high-performance applications.

Performance Summary
Rulon® fluoropolymer compounds belong to the top tier of high-performance plastics. They provide a low coefficient of friction, long wear life, excellent abrasion resistance, chemical inertness and the ability to operate across wide temperature and pressure ranges. These properties make Rulon® suitable for friction-control and wear-resistant solutions across multiple industries.

Typical Forms & Applications
  • Bearings
  • Piston rings
  • Formed parts
  • Basic shapes: molded and extruded rods, tubes and sheets
  • Wear components and custom polymer parts

Common Grades and Visual Identification
Different fillers produce distinct grades and colors (examples):
  • LR — maroon
  • J — gold
  • W2 — black
  • 641 — white (FDA-compliant for food applications)
  • 123 — suited for high-temperature and chemical resistance

Processing & Manufacturing
Rulon® materials can be processed using multiple methods selected to optimize final performance:
  • Automatic and hand molding
  • Extrusion
  • Machining
  • Skiving (for sheets)
  • Stamping and forming

Industries & Application Examples
Used across many sectors including industrial (pumps, valves), aviation, life sciences and medical devices, space (cryogenic and satellite components), energy (oil & gas, low-carbon energy), food and pharmaceutical processing, semiconductors and other critical-engineering fields.

Features & Benefits
  • Excellent wear resistance for durable components
  • Low coefficient of friction for friction control
  • Superior chemical and corrosion resistance
  • Capability to operate in extreme temperatures and pressures
  • Availability of low-weight solutions
  • Ability to achieve tight tolerances across a wide range of designs
  • Expertise in manufacturing and finishing to deliver finished parts

Successful Product Examples
Typical parts made from Rulon® include piston rings, bearings and a variety of Omniseal® polymer components used in demanding environments.
