OverviewRulon® W2 is a black PTFE-based carbon-filled polymer developed for fresh-water applications. It exhibits low friction and excellent wear characteristics (one of the lowest wear rates in fresh water) and provides good thermal dissipation to help prevent shaft distress. Its tribological properties are enhanced when wet and the material does not absorb water. It is compatible with most metal substrates and with many soft mating surfaces. Rulon® W2 is offered as a molded and precision-machined PTFE or filled PTFE composite formulation designed to control wear and friction for specific applications and environments. It is a suitable alternative to Rulon® J when superior chemical resistance is required, but it should not be used on very soft mating surfaces or where electrical insulation is needed.
