Introduction
The vertical steering wheel is designed for outdoor mobile-platform and AGV applications. The motor is mounted vertically above the drive wheel. Integrated with a drive controller, a platform fitted with a single steering wheel supports start/stop, forward/reverse and steering. Two or more wheels enable zero‑radius rotation, lateral movement, omnidirectional 360° rotation, straight travel, diagonal motion and curved trajectories, allowing free movement in any direction on a two‑dimensional plane.

Precision operation
The unit is a mechatronic assembly combining a drive with speed feedback, a steering mechanism with position feedback, limit devices and a braking system. Precise drive control enables accurate regulation of travel speed and steering direction.

Suitable for confined spaces
With the drive motor mounted vertically the overall unit height is increased, and the absence of cable‑exit restrictions enables full 360° steering. This layout is particularly suitable for AGV operations in narrow or confined environments.

Easy installation
A modular plug‑and‑play design simplifies installation and removal. Plug‑in cable connectors are located below the mounting surface to facilitate component replacement without re‑routing cables.

High reliability
Compatible with in‑AGV drag chains using high‑flex cables (power, feedback, communication, commissioning) with bending life > 10 million cycles. Long‑served steering drive units remain operational in field use.
