Overview
FosfaMilk Test is a colorimetric assay based on the reaction between the Alkaline Phosphatase enzyme (present in raw milk and inactivated after correct pasteurization or UHT treatment) and a chromogenic substrate. The reaction produces a color change on a test strip enabling detection and semiquantitative estimation of Alkaline Phosphatase activity in milk, whey, cream and butter after simple pretreatment. The kit requires only an incubator or waterbath at 37C; no micropipettes, spoons or additional reagents are needed.
Regulatory and performance notes
The European Commission (CE 1664/2006) sets a residual Alkaline Phosphatase activity limit of 350 mU/L for correctly pasteurized/sterilized milk. FosfaMilk Test delivers a sensitivity of 200 mU/L and is suitable for verification of compliance with this regulatory threshold.
Product data and usage
Format: box containing 50 tests (test strips). Results on milk and whey are available within 60 minutes after incubation. The test gives a semiquantitative interpretation based on color intensity and can be read by eye without a dedicated reader. Cream and butter require a quick defatting pretreatment before analysis. Incubation: 1 hour at 37C in any thermostat or waterbath.
