DescriptionBurst of containment boom in PVC-coated polyester fabric (900 g/m2). This floating antipollution boom can be used preventively or curatively to close off an area, confine or deflect a slick of hydrocarbons or other pollutants on water surfaces. The BARC 1055R boom can also facilitate the recovery of macro-debris (plastic bags and bottles, branches, ...) or surface film and thus protect bathing areas or nautical activity zones.
Construction and materialsThe boom consists of a succession of flexible closed-cell foam tubes inserted into watertight envelopes of PVC-coated polyester fabric (hydrocarbon-treated, 900 g/m2). It is reinforced by a galvanized nautical steel ballast chain enclosed in a sleeve along its full length. Compartmentalization of the elements allows the boom with skirt to follow surface movements and its high flexibility ensures good behavior in strong winds and currents. Each boom is equipped at both ends with plates and bolts for connecting units together and with two handles to facilitate deployment. The boom is washable with water and fitted with stainless steel fasteners.
