OverviewThe Enless Wireless LoRaWAN Black Ball Sensor measures apparent temperature felt by occupants by combining air temperature and thermal radiation from surrounding surfaces. It is intended for precise HVAC tuning and integration into Building Management Systems (BMS).
Resulting TemperatureThe device provides a comfort (apparent) temperature value — the average of conductive and radiant components — useful for optimizing occupant comfort and energy performance in HVAC and BMS projects.
How a Black Ball Probe WorksA black ball probe absorbs thermal radiation from nearby surfaces (e.g. cold walls, sunlit glazing, heated floors) to determine the apparent temperature experienced by occupants, complementing air temperature measurements.

Radio & CommunicationThe sensor supports LoRa technology for long-range wireless communication (typical open-terrain range > 5 km). It operates in two modes: LoRaWAN (public or private networks) and LoRa Easy (direct link to LoRa Easy receivers). In LoRaWAN mode data can be decoded and mapped for BMS integration. In LoRa Easy mode the receiver can output Modbus, BACnet or HTTP/JSON for connection to building systems.
Battery & AutonomyPowered by a replaceable Type D (3.6 V) lithium battery (reference BAT D 1000-031). Typical battery life is up to 15 years depending on transmission frequency and environment.
