High-temperature pressure transducer with 4-20 mA output for melt applications

Overview
The Gefran CSP-E series melt pressure transducers are engineered for pressure measurement in high-temperature processes up to 600 °C (1112 °F). The design uses hydraulic pressure transmission via an incompressible NaK (sodium/potassium) alloy to convey process pressure to the sensing element. Thick-film strain gauge technology converts the mechanical stress into an electrical 4-20 mA output. The CSP-E is intended for CSP (Concentrated Solar Power), TES (Thermal Energy Storage) and other high-temperature melt installations where thermal drift compensation is required.

Main features
  • Designed for CSP and high-temperature melt applications
  • Analog output: 4-20 mA
  • Pressure ranges: 0–20 to 0–1000 bar (0–300 to 0–15000 psi)
  • Maximum process temperature: 600 °C (1112 °F)

Construction and principle
  • Hydraulic pressure transmission: process pressure is transferred through an incompressible NaK fluid to the sensing element, ensuring measurement stability at very high temperatures.
  • Sensing element: thick-film strain gauge converts pressure-induced mechanical stress into an electrical signal.
  • Materials selected for high-temperature and corrosion resistance: stem in 17-4 PH, corrugated diaphragm in Inconel 718 with GTP+ coating.
  • Flanged process connection suitable for melt/high-temperature installations.

Functions and options
  • On-board Autozero function (external Autozero version available)
  • Signal drift compensation possible via K coefficient to correct temperature-related variations

Applications
  • Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) plants
  • Thermal Energy Storage (TES) systems
  • High-temperature melt process monitoring and control

Technical specifications
  • Pressure ranges: 0–20 to 0–1000 bar (0–300 to 0–15000 psi)
  • Maximum process temperature: 600 °C (1112 °F)
  • Output: 4-20 mA analog
  • Accuracy: < ±1% FS (L)
  • Hydraulic transmission fluid: NaK (sodium/potassium alloy), RoHS compliant
  • Stem material: 17-4 PH
  • Corrugated diaphragm: Inconel 718 with GTP+ coating
  • Process connection: flanged
  • Autozero: on-board (optional external version)
  • Thermal drift compensation via K coefficient
