Description

Overview
The netX 52 is a compact, cost-optimized network controller designed for Real-Time Ethernet and fieldbus slave applications. Built on the enhanced netX 50 architecture, it offers increased internal memory and additional functional units while using the same silicon as netX 51 but without an external memory bus.

Functional description
With more than 670 KByte internal memory (expandable with a small QSPI Flash) the netX 52 enables very compact implementations and improved performance compared to netX 50. A second RISC CPU (xPIC) operates in parallel with the ARM core to handle time-critical I/O, reducing the processing load on the ARM. Two communication channels support Real-Time Ethernet with PHY or fieldbus, and a third Ethernet interface (MII) is provided for PC-based diagnostics, configuration or host-CPU connection; the netX can act as a PHY on this interface. Optional CAN controller support enables integration with CAN-based networks.

Highlights
  • Compact network controller for fieldbus and Real-Time Ethernet slave designs
  • Two Real-Time Ethernet communication channels with PHY or fieldbus options
  • Extended protocol support including PROFINET V2.3 (Dynamic Frame Packing) and IO-Link V1.1
  • Secondary RISC CPU for time-critical I/O tasks
  • Fast SPI host interface with read/write capability
