Overview
The KBC/KBD/KBF are Ariel large-frame, medium-speed reciprocating compressors designed for coupling with electric motors or natural-gas engines. Intended for high-horsepower, high-capacity compression projects, they cover natural gas gathering, processing, pipeline transport & storage, process and industrial gases, carbon capture and other industrial compression applications. The design concentrates high horsepower density in a compact footprint and reduces vibration while facilitating operation and maintenance improvements for owner/operators.

Product features

• Efficient valves: Plate-type valves optimized for modern speeds with non-metallic sealing elements as standard; valves selected to meet low-valve-velocity criteria.
• Heavy-duty crankshafts: Forged-steel, precision-machined crankshafts with integral counterweights manufactured by Ariel.
• Redesigned guide supports: Robust KB-style angled guides with through-bolting for increased strength and rigidity.
• Versatile cylinders: Cylinders usable across wide pressure ranges and combinable in multiple configurations; Ariel 7 performance software used for modeling and configuration.

Materials

• Gray iron crankcase: Forged-steel crankshaft, gray iron crosshead guide, bronze thrust bearing, tri-metal main bearing.
• Ductile iron crosshead: Alloy-steel crosshead pin.
• Forged-steel connecting rod: Bronze crosshead pin bushing, tri-metal connecting rod bearing, grade 8 tension bolts.
