Description

The ability to couple light from one fiber to another greatly expands upon fiber laser functionality. Flexible control over beam delivery enables IPG fiber lasers to utilize power and space more effectively by addressing multiple applications simultaneously or sequentially or increasing process speed and laser duty cycle. Options include single port couplers, beam shutters, multi-port beam switches for 2, 3, 4, or 6 channels, and a 2 port energy sharing function. Fiber couplers are often used to protect the feed fiber and the laser from the process. The use of a coupler between the fiber and beam delivery head also allows for flexible fiber changeout for quick adjustment of beam characteristics for different applications and easy fiber replacement.
