Description

Overview
Single-mode fiber lasers from IPG deliver exceptional beam quality by using fiber cores only a few microns in diameter, allowing laser power to be concentrated into very small spot sizes. This enables higher process speeds, improved part quality and reduced heat input for industrial materials processing.

Key features
  • Single-mode beam profile for very low M2 values
  • Small focal spot sizes (typically ~30–100 µm) for high power density and precision
  • Typical wavelengths around 1070 nm (variants at 1075 nm)
  • Output power scalable within the family up to 10 kW
  • Available in cabinet (YLS-SM), rack (YLR-SM) and dual-beam / AMB (YLS-SM-AMB) formats
  • Modulation options for pulsed/modulated processes (series dependent)

Applications
  • Precision welding
  • EV battery welding
  • Precision cutting and drilling
  • Surface preparation & texturing
  • 3D printing & additive manufacturing

Single-Mode vs Multi-Mode - notes
Single-mode beams exhibit a Gaussian spatial profile concentrated into small spot sizes (typically 30–100 µm) suited to precision metal cutting, drilling, welding, non-metal processing and additive manufacturing. Multi-mode beams contain multiple spatial modes and generally produce larger focal spots (~100 µm to >1 mm), which can be preferred for high-power cutting and welding of thicker materials.
