Description

Matching laser wavelength to material is critical for maximizing efficiency and ensuring high-quality results. IPG Erbium, Thulium, and Raman lasers expand upon the renowned performance of our industrial lasers, catering to longer wavelengths that effectively serve diverse market demands. These lasers find utility across diverse sectors including medical applications, plastics processing, and metal cutting. Better Absorption for Better Results Infrared fiber lasers with wavelengths of approximately 1 μm are the starting point for most materials processing applications due to their efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Some materials better absorb the energy from longer wavelengths (1.1 to 2 μm) – in these cases Erbium-doped, Thulium-doped, and Raman-shifted lasers enable higher processing speeds, lower heat input, and superior results. Offering the same industry-leading performance as equivalent IPG lasers with shorter wavelengths, these lasers address a variety of applications with the efficiency and output powers required for industrial processing and medical aesthetics. Polymer Welding Made Easy By matching the wavelength to the polymer, IPG fiber lasers with longer wavelengths make polymer-to-polymer and polymer-to-metal welding easy. Wavelength tuning enables volumetric absorption for clear lower layer joining, avoids material discoloration, and can increase welding speeds to >1 m/s.
