Overview Nikon SMZ25 and SMZ18 are high-performance stereo zoom microscopes for industrial inspection, research and failure analysis. The SMZ25 offers a 25:1 zoom ratio with motorized zoom; the SMZ18 offers an 18:1 zoom ratio with manual zoom. Both are designed for direct observation and high-quality digital imaging.
Applications - Routine inspection of critical components and assemblies
- Materials research and R&D
- Failure analysis and failure-mode documentation
- Metrology and image documentation workflows with digital cameras
Optical performance Nikon’s optimized zoom optics maintain matching numerical apertures on left and right channels to deliver consistent stereoscopic imaging across the entire zoom range. Parfocal SHR Plan Apo objectives are supported to achieve high resolution (up to 1100 LP/mm with SHR Plan Apo 2× at maximum zoom).
Digital communication and image processing Both models integrate with Nikon Digital Sight cameras and NIS-Elements software for image capture, measurement and processing. Interfaces and optional controllers support workflow integration and remote operation for production and laboratory environments.
