Overview
NIS-Elements is a microscopy imaging software platform that controls Nikon microscopes and Nikon Digital Sight cameras to acquire, organize and process images within structured workflows. It is designed for industrial and research imaging, offering modular functionality for acquisition, analysis and documentation.

• NIS-Elements AR (Advanced Research): full-featured package for advanced research workflows and complex acquisition schemes.
• NIS-Elements BR (Basic Research): designed for standard research applications including analysis and photo-documentation; supports up to 4D acquisition and advanced device control.
• NIS-Elements D (Documentation): package focused on photo-documentation with basic measurement and reporting tools.
• NIS-Elements L / LE: tablet-compatible editions for image viewing and basic acquisition control of supported Digital Sight cameras.

NIS-Elements supports multidimensional acquisition, image stitching for large-field views, HDR and EDF generation, automated measurements and standards-based materials analysis. Core features and modules

• Image Stitching (Large Image): assemble tiles from multiple fields of view during acquisition or from stored images.
• EDF (Extended Depth of Field): create single all-in-focus images from multiple focal planes (supports motorized and manual focus).
• HDR Image Acquisition: combine multiple exposures to balance brightness across dark and bright regions.
• Auto Measurement / Object Counting: binary thresholding, object counting and measurements by area, size, pixel intensity and fractional analysis.
• Materials Grain Size Module: grain-size analysis compliant with standards (JIS G0551, ASTM E112-13, E1382-97, ISO 643, GB/T 6394).
• Materials Cast Iron Module: cast iron analysis for graphite content and classification (JIS G5502, ASTM A247-06, ISO 945-1).
