OverviewThe patented Paramount-designed Airscreen separator is typically installed at the end of a waste extraction system to separate conveying airflow from conveyed waste using a purpose-designed screen matched to the process and material.
Function and OperationThe Airscreen has a single moving component: an adjustable aerofoil. During commissioning the aerofoil is set to control inlet air velocity so the air and waste separate cleanly. Separated waste discharges by gravity into a bin, compactor or baler beneath the unit. The separated air can be vented to atmosphere or routed to filtration. For demanding installations, a balance fan on the air outlet or filter may be fitted to support airflow control.
Design AdvantagesCompared with traditional cyclones or drop-out boxes, the Airscreen delivers similar processing capacity in a much smaller footprint. Where a cyclone may require ~15 m height, the Airscreen typically occupies around 1.5 m, making it suitable for plant rooms and basements with limited headroom.
Materials Handled- Paper
- Tissue paper
- Corrugated board
- Sticky-backed labels
- Aluminium foil
- Plastic
- Can scrap
- Flock (fibrous material)
ApplicationsThe Airscreen is integrated into waste extraction systems to improve separation efficiency and environmental performance across recycling and manufacturing lines, especially where space is limited or large cyclone installations are impractical.
