Description

Product overview
The rotary valve is a unit designed to discharge large quantities of waste into a baler or compactor feed hopper while preventing transfer of conveying air pressure. Paramount Airscreen configurations typically use either a rotary valve or a system balance fan to ensure minimal air pressure reaches the material outlet. The rotary valve seals the waste outlet from the higher-pressure air conveying system above, optimising operating conditions and reducing maintenance downtime.

Design and operation
The core design uses wear-resistant rubber strips fitted to the tips of an internal rotating paddle assembly. These strips form rotating sealed voids that transfer waste from the conveying airstream above to the collection device below. Conveying air flows over the top of the unit without altering system air pressure, preserving the natural gravitational fall of the waste into the bin or compactor. The unit is built for industrial service and extended operating life.

Drive and protection
A key component is a high-performance British-manufactured motorised gearbox that drives the rotating paddle. The gearbox handles heavy loads and is mounted on shock-absorbing rubber bumpers to reduce vibration and improve stability. The gearbox includes an integral motor cut-out for operator protection and safe shutdown.

Noise control
For installations in noise-sensitive areas, optional noise reduction configurations are available to ensure quieter operation when required.

Benefits
  • No air leakage: design prevents air pressure loss that could disturb the waste as it falls into compactor or baler drop chutes below.
  • High volume processing: capable of handling large volumes of waste within a compact footprint, suitable for space-constrained facilities.
  • Versatile material handling: accepts a wide range of materials including paper, tissue, corrugated board, aluminium foil, plastic, scrap cans, and flock.
