Overview
Our SMI gateways enable the control of roller blinds and venetian blinds fitted with SMI motors. SMI stands for Standard Motor Interface®. A single SMI gateway can manage up to 16 SMI shading devices or blinds.

Functions and use
The gateways provide connection to controllers that send/receive MODBUS/RTU master protocol or simple ASCII text strings over serial interfaces (RS232 or RS485). For controllers with Ethernet (MODBUS/TCP client or ASCII sockets) there are corresponding ETH variants. Both gateway types include a built-in SMI-bus power supply, except for the dedicated diagnostic gateway (see below).

Configuration
For commissioning and configuration use the original SMI software SMI EasyMonitor3 together with the RESI-SMIx-SIO gateways to configure and test SMI roller blinds and venetian blinds.

Compatibility
Suitable for connection to PCs, PLCs, automation systems, media controllers, minicomputers, Raspberry Pi, Arduino or custom hardware. Integration is possible via MODBUS protocol or simple ASCII commands.

• RESI-SMI16-ETH: SMI gateway for 16 SMI roller/venetian blind motors, MODBUS/TCP client / ASCII sockets, 1x Ethernet
• RESI-SMI16-DIAG: SMI diagnostic gateway for 16 SMI roller/venetian blind motors, MODBUS/RTU + ASCII, 1x RS232 + 1x RS485 (no internal power supply, for monitoring/diagnosis of an SMI line)
