Description

Overview
Carbon Towers from Evoqua Water Technologies remove chlorine, chloramines and a wide range of organic contaminants to ensure compliant product water quality for food & beverage, pharmaceutical and industrial processes. The CT Series is engineered for systems that require activated carbon filtration with hot water sanitization or steam stripping capability. Standard vessels are built in 316L stainless steel with Schedule 10 stainless steel piping and cover flow rates from 40 to 532 gpm (151 to 2,013 L/min).

Description
CT Series Carbon Towers deliver reliable adsorption performance for pretreatment and process water applications. Four standard vessel sizes accommodate different flow ranges while the 316L stainless steel construction and Schedule 10 piping allow routine hot water sanitization and manual steam stripping for contaminant removal and system maintenance.

Standard Features
  • Vessels designed for hot water sanitization and steam vapor stripping, with bottom and/or top entry options for removal of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) such as trihalomethanes.
  • Standard flow rate basis: 1 gpm/ft³ forward flow and 10 gpm/ft² backwash flow (dependent on carbon density and particle size).
  • Advanced Well Screen internal distribution to ensure uniform flow during draw-off and backwash.
  • Minimum carbon bed depth of 5 feet to maximize contact time and removal capacity.
  • Up to 50% bed expansion capacity to accommodate backwash for multiple carbon media types.
  • Three operational modes: Wash Cycle (including Backwash), Service, and Offline (Manual Steam Stripping and Sanitization).

CT Series Benefits
  • Optimized for pretreatment applications requiring removal of odors, off-taste, chlorine, chloramine and a variety of organic contaminants.
  • Full drainability with scavenger screens to remove condensate during steaming operations.
  • Customization options including:
    • Higher flow rate designs
    • Alternate manway types
    • Temperature transmitters and control probes
    • Special carbon media specifications
    • Sampling ports
    • Alternate finish requests
  • Easy integration with Evoqua’s Heat Optimized Technology (HOT) where required.

Standard Vessel Options
  • Four standard vessel sizes built in 316L stainless steel with Schedule 10 stainless steel piping to accommodate the specified flow ranges.
  • ASME code pressure vessel rated for full vacuum and up to 100 PSIG.
  • Optional unit operation with automatic valve control via Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) for wash cycles and service; steam stripping and sanitization performed manually (offline).
