Overview
A removable flange insulation cover is a custom-made thermal jacket designed for bolted flange connections in industrial piping systems. It closes the insulation gap around the flange body, bolts and adjoining pipe insulation while preserving access to the joint for inspection, tightening, maintenance or replacement.

BSTFLEX removable flange insulation covers are custom-fabricated around the flange diameter, pipe size, bolt projection and available installation space. The reusable multi-layer construction helps control heat loss and exposed surface temperature while allowing the flange joint to be opened for inspection or maintenance without destroying the insulation.

Why Flanges Need Removable Insulation
An uncovered hot flange can become a concentrated source of heat loss and create a hot surface close to operators, cables or nearby equipment. A properly fitted removable insulation cover provides thermal coverage without permanently sealing the joint. When maintenance is required, the fasteners can be released and the complete cover removed. After the work is finished, the same cover can normally be installed again, avoiding repeated cutting and replacement of conventional insulation.

Custom Construction for Each Flange Assembly
The outside diameter alone is not enough to manufacture a reliable flange cover. Bolt length, pipe insulation thickness, flange width, adjacent fittings and installation clearance can all affect the finished pattern. Covers may be one-piece wraparound jackets or divided constructions. Openings, overlaps, reinforced edges and local cut-outs can be incorporated for supports, drains, instruments or nearby piping. Identification labels can be added for plants using many similar covers.

• Hot-face liner: Fiberglass fabric, silica fabric, stainless steel foil or stainless steel mesh — select for direct contact temperature, vibration and abrasion
• Fastening system: D-rings & straps, stainless steel hooks and lacing wire, springs or buckles — choose for installation space, removal frequency and vibration
• Reinforcement: Stainless steel mesh, reinforced seams, edge protection, quilting pins or support hardware — sized for cover dimensions and mechanical loading

Closure and Installation Options
Fastening methods include D-rings with straps, stainless steel hooks, lacing wire, springs and other removable closures chosen to match working temperature, vibration and maintenance frequency. Patterns may include overlap flaps around pipe openings, reinforced pull tabs, and clearly positioned closures to simplify removal while wearing industrial gloves.

Flange Insulation Cover vs Flange Guard
An insulation cover is a multi-layer thermal product intended to reduce heat transfer and provide removable access. A flange guard or spray shield is primarily designed to help contain or indicate leakage; they serve different purposes and one should not automatically substitute for the other.
