Overview
NEMA 12 (IP54) Cabinet Cooler® Systems for continuous operation provide dust- and oil-resistant cooling and positive purge for electronic control panels. Designed for industrial control environments, these systems use a vortex tube to generate cold air from compressed air with no moving parts. Continuous systems include a Cabinet Cooler, cold air distribution kit and a 5 μm automatic drain filter. All Cabinet Coolers are UL Listed and CE compliant.

Systems Included
Continuous operation systems include: Cabinet Cooler, cold air distribution kit and 5 μm automatic drain filter. Thermostat-controlled systems add solenoid valve, thermostat and filter separator. ETC (Electronic Temperature Control) systems add digital control, LED readout and internal temperature feedback.

How It Works
Compressed air enters the vortex-tube powered Cabinet Cooler and separates into hot and cold streams. Hot air exhausts through the vortex tube; cold air is delivered into the enclosure via the cold air distribution kit. Positive internal pressure prevents ingress of outside air and contaminants.

Filtration & Cold Air Distribution
Systems include a 5 μm automatic drain water-and-dirt filter to protect electronics. If oil is present in the compressed air, install a coalescing (oil removal) filter. The cold air distribution kit contains flexible tubing, adhesive clips and fittings to direct airflow to circulation paths or specific hot spots.

ETC, Solenoid Valve & Thermostat
ETC (Electronic Temperature Control) offers precise temperature management with LED readout and thermocouple sensing. Thermostat-controlled systems use a solenoid valve and a thermostat (factory set at 95°F / 35°C) to limit compressed air consumption. Solenoid voltages available in multiple options. ETC units are RoHS and CE compliant.

Environmental & Mounting
NEMA 12 (IP54) systems are suitable for general industrial environments where liquids or corrosives are not present. Cabinet Coolers may be mounted on the top or side of the panel; side-mount kits are available for restricted space. (NEMA 4 and 4X units have specific mounting requirements.)

  • Humidity: continuous-operation units stabilize relative humidity inside the enclosure at ~45% when enclosure is sealed
  • Inlet air temperature: typical temperature drop ≈54°F (30°C) at 100 PSIG (6.9 BAR); higher inlet temps or lower pressure reduce capacity
