Description

Overview
Non-Hazardous Purge (NHP) NEMA 4 Cabinet Cooler® systems provide a slight positive pressure inside electrical enclosures to prevent contaminants from entering through small openings. Thermostat-controlled units activate cooling only when internal temperature approaches the setpoint (factory set at 95°F / 35°C), reducing compressed air use. Cabinet Coolers use a vortex tube to create cold air from compressed air with no moving parts and install quickly through a standard electrical knockout. NEMA 4 (IP66) models are dust-tight, oil-tight and splash-resistant for indoor/outdoor service.

Accessories
Side Mount Kits allow installation on the side of an enclosure when top clearance is limited. NEMA 4 and 4X Side Mount Kits preserve the enclosure rating and mount in a standard 1-1/2 NPS knockout. Side Mount Kits for NEMA 12 are aluminum; NEMA 4 and 4X kits are Type 303 or 316 stainless steel.

How it works
Compressed air enters a vortex tube within the Cabinet Cooler, splitting into hot and cold streams. Cold air is directed into the cabinet via a cold air distribution kit; hot air is muffled and exhausted. The system maintains slight positive pressure so external contaminants are kept out of the enclosure.

Thermostat systems include the cooler, solenoid valve, thermostat (factory set at 95°F / 35°C, adjustable), filter separator and cold air distribution kit. Continuous systems include cooler, filter separator and distribution kit. Electronic Temperature Control (ETC) units provide digital regulation and internal temperature feedback. Cabinet Cooler systems include a 5 micron automatic drain water and dirt filter; use a coalescing filter if oil is present in the compressed air supply.
