OverviewHigh-temperature NEMA 12 (IP54) Cabinet Cooler Systems by EXAIR for continuous operation in ambient temperatures from 125°F to 200°F (52°C to 93°C). Systems use a vortex tube to produce cold air from compressed air with no moving parts. Continuous-operation models include a 5-micron water‑and‑dirt filter separator and a cold air distribution kit for targeted cooling and enclosure purge.
Applications- Programmable controllers (PLCs)
- Line control cabinets
- Motor control centers
- Relay panels
- NC/CNC systems
- Modular control centers
- CCTV camera housings
- Computer and electronics cabinets
- Laser housing cooling
- Industrial electronic scales
Advantages- Rated for ambient temperatures up to 200°F (93°C)
- Low acquisition and lifecycle cost
- Compact, panel-mounted installation through standard knockout
- Cooling capacities up to 5,600 Btu/hr (1,641 W)
- Quiet operation; sound can be reduced with optional muffler
- Preserves NEMA 12 integrity (IP54) and prevents ingress of dust and oil
- Creates slight positive pressure to purge contaminants
- No CFCs and no internal fans or filters required
- No moving parts — minimal maintenance
- Reduces nuisance trips and heat-related failures

How it worksCompressed air enters the vortex-tube-powered Cabinet Cooler and splits into hot and cold streams. Hot air is exhausted and muffled; cold air is discharged into the enclosure via the cold air distribution kit. The device maintains slight positive pressure to purge contaminants and prevent ingress of outside air.
Other considerations- Filtration: Continuous systems include a 5 µm automatic‑drain water‑and‑dirt filter separator. If oil is present, add a coalescing/oil‑removal filter.
- Cold Air Distribution Kit: Flexible tubing, connectors and clips direct cold air to the enclosure interior or specific hot spots.
- Humidity: Continuous units stabilize enclosure relative humidity at ~45% when sealed, preventing condensation.
- Inlet Air Temperature: Expect ~54°F (30°C) temperature drop from supply air at 100 PSIG; higher inlet temperatures or lower pressure reduce capacity.
- Mounting: NEMA 12 (IP54) units mount through standard knockouts on top or side; side‑mount kits available for limited-top-space installations.
- Controls: Continuous models include filter and distribution kit. Thermostatic and ETC (Electronic Temperature Control) models (separate SKUs) include solenoid valves and digital temperature control.
- Safety & Compliance: All units are UL Listed and CE compliant.
